Miscarriage/Pregnancy Loss

an open letter to aetna

dear aetna -

thank you so much for the lovely letter that I received in the mail today congratulating me on entering the second trimester of my pregnancy.  i especially enjoyed reading about what to expect during this "exciting time."  as always, you know how to make me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.  i look forward to my third trimester letter and especially the letter that welcomes my new bundle of joy into this world.  you're the best.

kind regards,
me.

(don'tcha think the people who have paying my bills the last 3 months could have figured out that i was no longer expecting?  i mean... 2 D&Cs would have given it way.  but i'm just sayin...)

Re: an open letter to aetna

  • very good, you should send it.  I got one from the hospital about nursing and welcoming me to the third tri, telling me to make sure I sent in my pre-reg.  The same hospital I was in on 3 different occasions because of losing Zoe, they are all morons.
DD(9)DD(5.5)DS(3)DS(born 2/1/11) July 2006, lost a baby at 8 weeks, natural miscarriage , May 2009 lost Zoe Eliana at 17 weeks no reason known, possible under developed organs. Lost two more babies in September 2009 at 7 wks 4 days. Had myomectomy surgery to remove a large fibroid in November 2009.

  • I haven't gotten a letter like that from them, but I did get a letter from a RN case worker to work with me and my doctor to determine the best treatments (since I've had so many medical charges).  She said she would call me later to check in on how the pregnancy is going.  Nice that I got this a couple of days after the babies died.  I called and left her a vm to not bother calling me.  She was nice about it and sent me a sympathy card.
  • That's awful.. I'm sorry.. Boo on Aetna.

I got a survey from the hospital asking how everything was while I was there.  Hmm... aside from losing my daughter?  Things were fantastic!  ha.

  • Yeah, those reminders are totally unnecessary!  I've received a couple of those too.  Blah No
