stroller question

I have a stupid questions--I've looked at my manual and can't find an answer, so thought I'd ask here. So DD is just over 4 months and is probably 12 1/2lbs and about 23 inches. We have the Chicco Cortina stoller and key fit car seat. she is holding her head up just fine now and hates facing me in the stroller, so yesterday I tried her just sitting in the stroller facing out. The straps were gigantic and wouldn't come close to tightening against her. She couldn't fall out or anything, but I decided to not have her this way. Do I have to wait to use the stroller this way until all the straps fit snugly at their smallest setting? Or, is it ok if they are loose?

Re: stroller question

  • I have the same stroller and have put Jocelyn in it with the foot kick thing up and no straps since she was about 2 months old (I even took the straps totally out so she could lay comfortably). She either would lay down or be semi up. She fit fine and we take long walks, and she never slid.  Around 3 weeks ago I just started using the straps because she was too long to lay with the kick thingy up.  She fits well in it now but the shoulder straps are still a little loose.

  • I have the same stroller and have put Nolan forward facing in it since he was about 3 months old.  I just rolled a towel and positioned it around his head (with the foot thingy up) and had him sitting semi-upright. It worked fine. The straps were a little loose on him, but not too loose that I was concerned.

  • I have the same stroller and ditto the PP.  We put Brayden facing out at about 3 months old.  The straps were definitely loose but we put the foot thing up and he was fine.  I only sit him like that when we're doing neighborhood walks so there is no threat of him falling out.  He lovesit because he actually gets to see the world.
