Hey girls!
Thanks so much for all of your thoughts and prayers. We all really appreciate them!
Today was a good and bad day I guess. The good news is that my Dad is doing fine and resting. Also, his surgery did go well and the doctor still feels that his recovery prognosis is very good. The other big good news is that his cancer had not spread thankfully!
The bad news is that they could only take a minor part of his growth today to biopsy, and they will have to kill the rest through BOTH radiation and chemotherapy. The growth was bigger than they thought it was going to be, and they would have had to remove his entire voicebox to take it out. Obviously, that is not the best option at this point. So, they will have to add in chemo (initially it was only radiation) to kill the growth. I think we were all pretty shocked to hear about the chemo and size of his growth. He is willing, of course, to do anything he needs to do.
From here, he has an appt with an oncologist on 8/19 to get his treatment plan and get things started. My sister will have to go to that with him because we will be in Colorado after our FET. I will most likely not be able to help with many things if/when our treatment is successful because none of us want to take any chances with me around radiation and chemo if I'm pregnant.
Thanks again for all of your good thoughts and prayers - I'm off to take a nap now! And, I'm preparing for my big u/s and b/w tomorrow for our FET. It's been a busy week!
Re: My Dad's Update

I am so happy to hear that there wasn't any metastasis. Sorry your dad had to do chemo on top of the radiation but it will be worth it to preserve his voice box.
Can't wait to hear your FET goes!
I will continue to keep you in my thoughts & prayers. I work in oncology so if you need anything at all let me know.
I'm so glad to hear that the cancer hasn't spread. I will keep your Dad in my thoughts as he goes through his treatments.
