  • I chose other.  We are doing great and we don't really have debt that we worry about, but money is tight.

this is what I probably should have chosen.

  • We thought we were doing great but now we need a minivan, double of everything we have, and on top of all that, a new chimney which will be $7000. Technically we have $ in savings for this but now we'll need to spend it. BOO!

  • We have some debt but have that under control and still putting away money in savings. We are never late on bills and only use cash/debit. That being said, DH is starting law school next fall. We will be ok bc we live WELL within our means, but it could get scary if anything big happened where we would need money quick.

    Agreed.

Our only debt is the house, and we have a large stash of savings. But we also have some big expenses coming up (property taxes of an unknown amount, unpaid maternity leave starting around Thanksgiving, new/newish car, small home improvements), so I'm still concerned about money.

In fact, I was thinking today that I might quit my job, but I really feel like I need to make hay while the sun shines, too.

This sums it up pretty nicely.  We just bought a new house and haven't sold our old one yet.  We can manage the two mortgages without dipping into our savings (only because our first house was so cheap), but it's tight.  We  have minimal cc debt and what we do have is all at 0% (it will be paid off before the rates increase).  We also have car loans but we don't worry about those as they are budgeted for.  Once we sell our first house, we will have more breathing room.

  • We will be debt free except for our mortgage by Sept 1st if not sooner.
