I had an ultrasound two days ago. It was just to check to make sure everything is ok (and it was).
I know the part with the dotted line over it is the baby. The head is on the left (they said the darkish spot is where the brain is forming) The little circle in the top left is the yolk sack.
There's a bit sticking up in the middle of the baby. Is that the arms? It just seemed to long to be arms ... or is it a cord? I'm not sure. Maybe nobody can tell at this point.

Also, at the bottom it says Gestational Age 8w 0d > 97% What does that mean?
Next time, I'm going to have to stop being so "in awe" of the sonogram and learn to ask some questions. ![]()

Re: anyone good at "reading" ultrasound pics?
The 97% means they are 97% sure you were 8 weeks along.
Looks like an arm.
I see it differently, based on how mine looked around the same time: The very right bubble is the baby's head. Thing sticking up is the arm. Two nubs at left are legs... picture a gingerbread man.
8w0d means that that's what the baby was measuring at the u/s time. Not sure what the 97% means!
AN arm? As in one? lol. Hope there's another one somewhere.
Maybe I do have it backwards. Hmm... I got 5 different sonogram pictures, and they're all very similar. It's hard to make out much of anything at this point.
I thought that's what the percentage was, but I wasn't sure. I guess 97% is pretty good?

I am an US tech...
The "bit sticking up in the middle" you asked about is the umbilical cord. Head is on the left (yes, the black area is the brain). Arms and legs are still forming, so they are too small to see for another week or 2 yet. Baby looks cute!!
Also, the 8w0d >97% is just measurement info. The baby's CRL (crown-to-rump length, from head to butt) was measured to be giving baby an age of 8 weeks and 0 days.
You are awesome. Thank you!
