Orange County Babies

Song ideas?

I wanted to compile an iTunes playlist for DH and I for Baby #2 -- a  boy.  I did this for our little girl for DH, and he enjoyed it. I thought I'd try to collect some songs for the boy, too.  Daddy-son, Mommy-son, brother-sister.   Any ideas?  Thanks!!!

Re: Song ideas?

  • Momma's don't let your babies grow up to be Cowboys (LoL)

Just the 2 of us by Will Smith

    Beautiful Boy by John Lennon

    Arms wide open by Creed

    Watching you by Rodney Atkins

These are just a few.  I googled some.  Not sure what kind of music you like though so it's a little tougher.

  • Also if you like Country and baseball.... The Greatest by Kenny Rogers.  It makes my hubby cry.
  • Thanks for the ideas, Jayme. No major preferences on types of music. Country, pop, oldies, etc. (BTW, love your siggy pic. Very sweet!)
  • I love the song "Godspeed/Sleep Tight" by the Dixie Chicks. I've always said that if we had a boy, I'd do a photo montage DVD to that song. So beautiful!

(Edited: I had the wrong title for the song)  Here are the lyrics:

    "Godspeed (Sweet Dreams)"

Dragon tales and the "water is wide"
Pirate's sail and lost boys fly
    Fish bite moonbeams every night
    And I love you

    Godspeed, little man
    Sweet dreams, little man
Oh my love will fly to you each night on angels wings
    Godspeed
    Sweet dreams

The rocket racer's all tuckered out
Superman's in pajamas on the couch
Goodnight moon, will find the mouse
    And I love you

    Godspeed, little man
    Sweet dreams, little man
Oh my love will fly to you each night on angels wings
    Godspeed
    Sweet dreams

God bless mommy and match box cars
God bless dad and thanks for the stars
God hears "Amen," wherever we are
    And I love you

    Godspeed, little man
    Sweet dreams, little man
Oh my love will fly to you each night on angels wings
    Godspeed
    Godspeed
    Godspeed
    Sweet dreams

  • I also love Lullaby by the Dixie Chicks. Here are the lyrics:

They didn't have you where I come from
Never knew the best was yet to come
Life began when I saw your face
And I hear your laugh like a serenade

How long do you want to be loved
Is forever enough, is forever enough
How long do you want to be loved
    Is forever enough
Cause I'm never, never giving you up

I slip in bed when you're asleep
To hold you close and feel your breath on me
Tomorrow there'll be so much to do
So tonight I'll drift in a dream with you

How long do you want to be loved
Is forever enough, is forever enough
How long do you want to be loved
    Is forever enough
Cause I'm never, never giving you up

As you wander through this troubled world
In search of all things beautiful
You can close your eyes when you're miles away
And hear my voice like a serenade

How long do you want to be loved
Is forever enough, is forever enough
How long do you want to be loved
    Is forever enough
Cause I'm never, never giving you up

How long do you want to be loved
Is forever enough, is forever enough
How long do you want to be loved
    Is forever enough
Cause I'm never, never giving you up
    Is forever enough
Cause I'm never, never giving you up

  • One of my favorites is the song "Blessed" by Elton John- it's beautiful!
  • Thanks so much!

Definitely Godspeed! I can't believe I forgot that one!  Good call Jen!  I love that song!  Makes me cry and I don't even have a boy!

  • Ahhh, Beautiful Boy...but I prefer Ben Harper's version, sorry to all the Lennon fans!

Lullaby by Jack Johnson with Matt Costa...and I like Better Together, even though that's probably more of a "love" song, but I still sing it to DS

Loves Me Like a Rock by Paul Simon (I think the O'Jays sang it too)

Baby I Love You by the Ramones...again, a "love" song, but still sweet

    Baby Birthday Ticker Ticker

I second this song.  I love it!!  I'm blanking on any other suggestions right now, though.  Sorry.

I seriously cried everytime I heard it when it first came out years ago and I was not even married yet. I couldn't wait to have a baby boy someday JUST so I could play that song to him! Love it!
