Re: ~~Bed Rest Mama's Wednesday Check In!~~

  • Update: My doctor's office never got my labs or 24 hr UA results to me yesterday. When I called yesterday afternoon they said they would call me by today... hoping that no news is good news!

QOTD: How many children do you want and how close together would you like to have them? Does being high risk change your thoughts on having more children?

I have asked this before but we have so many new ladies on here I figured I would ask again...

This will be our last baby. I never had a number in mind of how many children I wanted, I just knew I wanted more than 1. I loved growing up in a big family (have 5 siblings) and wanted my children to experience siblings. Not sure I would have stopped at 2 if pregnancy would have been easier, but I am having a tubal after my daughter is born. I will have one of each, which is perfect and that will complete our family.

  • update:  i have had a rash on my back for the past 6days or so that continues to spread.  i called my OB yesterday but they couldn't find my chart so they said they would call me back, and forgot to!  now they are closed today, as is my primary care provider.  i am somehow convinced that i have shingles.  i am miserable.  just have to wait until tomorrow to call the doctor.....

QOTD: i have always wanted 4 children and wanted to have them fairly close together, preferably a couple years apart.  since our issues with this first pregnancy, i kind of have no choice but to play it by ear from here on out.  we'll see how the rest of this pregnancy goes and after a year or two maybe try and see how a second pregnancy goes.  it may be reality that my body won't like having 4 babies, but you just never know!

  • Update: ?No much - just looking forward to tomorrow's ob appt. ?Hoping she will take me off BR. ?I feel guilty about this, but I am so looking forward to seeing and finally having our boy that I am counting 37 weeks as my goal and not 40 weeks (9/3/09)...hoping he'll be here before 9/3. ?The discomfort and the sleepless nights are tough right now - it hurts to breathe.

QOTD: ?Well, never even imagined that I would have one kid really. ?I have 4 siblings, and my husband has 3. ?I have tons of cousins and have always been used to a large family. ?I guess now that we will have our son, I can see how being an only kid can be lonely. ?I would be open to having another kid, I just hope that the next pregnancy wont be this difficult. ?Having been on BR for 13 weeks now has really taken a toll, but I don't know that it would completely deter me from having another one. ?If the excitement I feel right now of meeting my little boy is an indication of the joy we'll feel when he finally gets here, its enough of an incentive to have another. ?:)?

  • Update- Passed biophysical and NST today. Fluid dropped again though, to 8.9....but my OB said it has to get to 5 before she"ll admit me. I now have 2 possible induction dates...8/30 if bp's get higher, 9/4 if they remain stable.

QOTD- I've always wanted 4. Now DH is saying if there is more BR in our future he doesnt want to do this 3 more times. As much as I want a big family, i've been so uncomfortable this last week or so, I sometimes agree with him...i certainly don't love being pregnant.

As far as spacing goes, it will depend on 2 things....how big our next rental is, and how much we figure daycare will be for 2. And how long it takes us to pay our medical debt.

  • No new updates....not until tomorrow that is! QOTD: I always wanted more than one.....although with the cards I've been dealt, trouble conceiving, miscarriage AND doing all the above a bit later in life (I'll be 40 in january) we may not have a choice. I totally would do it all again as I have an amazing support system and although money is extrememly tight we seem to be getting all the necessaries paid for....perhaps we'll try for one more, who knows....playing it by ear I guess =)
  • updates- I'm only allowed up to eat and shower now. My BP was very high at the OB's office yesterday- 177/90 when they first took it, 168/88 when they took it again. I was sent to L&D for monitoring. If I'm on my left side and ONLY on my left side, they go down to "normal". If I sit up, walk to the bathroom, or even talk too much then they go back up to 150/80ish. My first 24 hour urine came back at 300... but I'm 99% sure that I was so tired I got up and peed in the night and didn't put it in the bucket. I'm also showing protein at the in office dips, when I wasn't before.

My GD has also suddenly (overnight) improved, which is concerning to my peri. I turn in another 24 hour urine tomorrow, and have another appointment on Friday. I feel like we will have the baby soon. I'll be 37 weeks on Saturday (ticker is wrong), so I'm okay with that.

QOTD- I always thought we would have several chilldren- 3 or 4. Close together, even. Now... I don't feel it would be fair to Emerson to get PG again quickly. I will probably have problems again, so I would like to wait until she is in school and not as dependent on me. I also don't think it's fair of me to put my H through it again, since I'm the one who really wants more kids. We might look into adoption, I would have no problem at all adopting. But I know it comes with it's own hardships..

  • Update: Had my ob visit today.  Got the GBS done.  We thought we were getting our induction officially scheduled, but that's not until next week.

Our crib came in last night! So we went to BRU unexpectedly.  When we got there, DH and I kind of looked at each other and decided to complete our registry.  The girls were nice at guest services and gave us our completion code.  DH took the crib home and I completely overdid it.  I have gone on little errands before.  But this was ridiculous.  I am exhausted today and I feel really yucky.  I forgot what real shopping entailed.  The stretching and the lifting and the bending.  Bulk diapers are heavy...  We ended up with 2 cartfuls of stuff.  DH scolded me the whole way home and sent me to bed.  I kept coming out to check on the crib progress though because it was exciting to finally see it.  I think he was annoyed with me.  He will have to finish up the room because I am too tired to do anything else to it.  I took everything out of the packaging, since I could do that sitting down.  But I am not myself.  I wonder if I can't even shop properly, how will I push out a baby???

QOTD: DH and I wanted 2.  This pregnancy has taken its toll.  If I end up with a thrombophilia on postpartum diagnosis as the cause for this IUGR, we may not try again.  I know my hours as an attending ob/gyn will be less than a resident, so the asthma issues won't be quite as catastrophic as they were, and I can handle the hyperemesis.  But if we add a reproducible cause for that in... I don't know.  It'd make bedrest pretty much a certainty, and I'd be the only one working at that point.  We plan on DH being a SAHD when I have a real job, so it would be catastrophic financially to have me out of work for this long again.  It'd be great to have to, since we both have siblings and I come from a huge extended family, but... not at such an expense to my health and our finances again.
