MFI IVF gals... question for you (SAIFW)

If you've got a MFI diagnosis and you yourself have had no problem ovulating on your own... i'm curious.

1. how old are you?

2. what stim drug and what dosage were you/are you on?

I'm 28 and my RE is going to put me on 225 of Gonal-F. the nurse suspected because of my age that I might be on a dose as low as 150... so I guess I'm worried about OHSS. hence my curiosity of what others have been on! thanks!

I'm 36 I haven't been on Gonal-F, but have done Follistim and Repronex. My dosage has varied based on my response and protocal. This past cycle I started with 375 units of Follistim for 2 nights, then dropped that down to 225 and added 2 vials of Repronex. I'm not sure how that compares to Gonal-F.

Do you know how so you'll be monitored once starting stims? I've always had bloodwork after 3 nights of stims and dosage is adjusted based on E2 levels. At my age, though, I'm also at a lower risk for OHSS than you would be.

I was 28 for cycle #1 -225 of Follistim

29 for #2 -225 Follistim and 1 dose of Menopur, then the Follistim dropped to 150

My E2 levels the second time were getting kind of high, and that is why they dropped down the dose.

2. Bravelle & Menopur for round 1 and probably round 2 as well. I was on 75 of Bravelle and 150 of Menopur, then near the end it was cut to 75 of each. I had mild OHSS after my ER, but I only had 10 eggs retrieved.

They should monitor you closely and adjust your meds if your E2 levels get too high. I actually expect to be on higher doses for my Round 2 b/c they weren't too impressed with my 10 eggs : (

ETA: ok I'm an idiot. It might have been 150 of bravelle and 75 of menopur. I can't remember. I'm 29 going on 89.

1. 36-37 when I was cycling with IVF

2. Lupron protocol- I stimmed withi 225iu follistim and 75iu menopur. Ganirelix antagonist protocol - I stimmed with 150iu follistim and 75iu menopur which got bumped up to 150iu follistium and 150iu menopur mid-cycle.

I'm way older than you though.

i know i'll be monitored after 5 days on gonal-f. but not at all in those first 5 days.

Not at all in the first "week"? I can see why you'd be worried. But your E2 levels wouldn't get to OHSS levels in that timeframe. At least, as far as I know. Obviously I'm no doctor. I didn't have any symptoms until after I took the trigger shot - 11 days after starting stims.

yeah... my timeline says I go in for a baseline after BCP and Lupron... drop the lupron dose, have 5 days of gonal-f, and then come in for u/s and b/w. i guess my concern isn't just OHSS, but also just having an E2 that is too high and ending up having to cancel. i mean, i guess you just don't know until you're there and on the meds, and this is their standard course of treatment and monitoring... but i think i am going to ask and double check all of this to see if the nurse and reassure me when it comes time for stims.

I am 35 years old. My RE had me initially on 225 follistim and 75 menopur. Then two days later took me off the menopur and reduced me to 200 follistim. Continued to reduce me 2 days later to 150 follistim and finally ended up only using 75 follistim on the last two days of stimming. I ended up overstiming and suffered from OHSS. But I also did get pregnant so I guess you can say it paid off.

IVF#1 - Bravelle and Repronex and everything went very smoothly up until BFN of course

IVF#2 - Menopur and Follistim. On the verge of OHSS with over 6K E2 after 10 days of stimming and 2 coasting days. I had the ER but not the ET.?

I am 30. I also have PCOS. I did the estrogen priming protocol. We started with lupron, then 150 of bravelle & menopur....cut down to 75 for a few nights...back up to 150 of each....then up to 225 of each and finally 300 of each. I stimmed for 17 nights bc the follies werent growing. I ended up with close to 40 follies, 29 eggs, 28 were mature & then 14 fertilized (we had severe MFI). We transferred 2 and are lucky enough to have 7 in the freezer. I did have some OHSS but they gave me some meds to reduce and it never got miserable.
