Ok, I'm curious how many people are eating lunchmeat?
I've read many, many articles on how it's bad for you while pregnant and so on, but I've read that you can reheat it to some temp and it's ok. Does that mean I can throw my much wanted yummy to my tummy lunchmeat in the microwave for a minute and I'm safe or if I need to cook at 450 degrees for thiry minutes in the oven?
Every morning..Monday through Saturday...I awake at 5:15am...willingly to make my beloved honey lunch for his day at work (he works outdoors in the mountains, no food is available other then the nasty gas station grub they put out every three days or so, which he ate everyday till he met me). I make him a ham and cheese sanwhich on wheat bread most days. On those days, all I can think about is....EATING A HAM AND CHEESE ON WHEAT BREAD.
All I want is a Ham and Cheese sandwich, but I'm scared to death of eating one because of Listeria.
Re: lunchmeat?
That was a really long post for asking about lunchmeat.
My doctor recommended heating lunchmeat to a steaming temp, which shouldn't be long in the microwave. Voila.
That said, a lot of women choose to have lunchmeat and not heat it and they have perfectly healthy babies. The overall risk is pretty low to begin with.
Yeah, my doctor told me that lunch meat is fine as long as it's from a quality source (basically all the name brands that you get in major chain grocery stores and at subway, etc.). That being said, I also find myself a little nervous having it without heating (I just heat in the microwave for 20 seconds or so). Which is silly because I'm certain my doctor is much more knowledgeable than me when it comes to what is okay or not during pregnancy! But I'm finding that I'm a bit neurotic about things.
That being said - I still have allowed myself to have it (since the doc says it's okay), I just have it very occassionally (less than once a week).
I don't do lunchmeat but that's more because I'm close to being entirely vegetarian than other health concerns.
Ditto everyone else's advice and have at the ham and cheese. If you're really worried, micro the meat then make it into a grilled ham and cheese sandwich - yum!
Thank you! I think I need to go make myself a Ham & Cheese Sandwich!
All I am right now is food & emotion.
eat a sandwich! i ate lunch meat all the time when pg with DS. as long as it's from a reputable place you should be fine.
