Does this even matter? She spanked her 9 month old. There is nothing a child that young could ever do that would make them deserved to be spanked regardless of how hard it is.

I realize that isn't the point. I don't think she should have done it and it seems that she realizes that. I think we have all done one thing or another that we regret as a parent. I do not think her child is permanently damaged or injured. I am not defending her in any way, what she did was wrong.

Children developmentally and cognitively do not understand even vague consequences until after the age of 3. Hitting a child that young is wrong. Period. I'm shocked and sickened.

And chadandamy- the fact that she might realize she shouldn't have done it and her child not being permanently "damaged or injured" does not make it less repulsive. Yes, I regret things as a parent, like introducing the paci or not putting her down drowsy but awake sooner, but spanking a 9 month old? Come on now.
