QOTD: Babywearing: Are you into it or no?  What carriers are you gonna get/register for?

Me:  I have an Ergo and both DH and I love it!  We still use it with DS and he is over 30lbs!  We will continue to use it with this next one, although in the beginning I will also use a pouch for easiness around the house.

  • QOTD: I'm not into it so much.  A friend is going to let me borrow his Baby Bjorn but I really don't think I will use it that much.  I don't think that I want to have my baby needing to be held all the time.

  • Hi all!

Feeling much much better these days! lots more energy Smile

QOTD: I definitely want one! I think it will sometimes make running errands much easier. I saw a lady at the grocery store the other day wearing one while pushing the grocery cart and she looked totally comfortable.... baby definitely looked comfy!

  • I'd like to get one -- it seems much more convenient than luggigng around a car seat.  :)

Oh for sure!  Those things get heavy!

  • I think I'll be getting a wrap moreso than a carrier but I'd like to try it. I think it's a good bonding thing.
  • I am not a fan of "wearing" babies. My cousin had a baby girl and she has been attached to her from day one. (She sleeps, eats, cleans, everything with that baby on her) and now if the child is put down at all, she screams and won't stop until her mom picks her up. If we're planning a vacation and need to pack the baby around without a stroller I'll do more research then.

  • We have a snugli, and LOVE it, when our son went through his fussy, hold me all the time, wanting to see everything stage around three months, it was a LIFESAVER!!!! we absolutely loved it and will definitely be using it with this baby!!!

  • QOTD: Babywearing: Are you into it or no?  What carriers are you gonna get/register for?

Yes, I'm into it!  I want to register for the moby wrap and probably another as well.  Might as well get a couple and see what the baby likes more.  I think it will be great to be able to carry the baby when I'm out or doing something when I want my hands free.

  • YAY! It's wednesday day! I only have about 2 hours and 22 minutes left of work too (whose counting?)

QOTD: Babywearing: Are you into it or no?  What carriers are you gonna get/register for? We have a front pack (i think it's graco??) it's soft and has holes for the legs, etc, the baby can either face against you or away and it straps on pretty easily (once i got it down) with a criss cross back KWIM?

Anyways we love it me and DH wore it with DS and he fit in it until he was about 7/8 months? We'll be using it again for this one!

  • Absolutely!  It saved our lives with DD, and I just can't imagine getting through busy life with a toddler without babywearing!

We have a Moby and an Ergo.  (Plus about 6 others, but I don't love them.)

I think I'll borrow an newborn insert for the Ergo, to give me more flexibility early on.  Mobies just aren't that convenient to tie on in parking garages, where the ends drag on the ground.  And I'm too big to tie the knot in front, so the knot digs into my back if I wear it while in the car.  Then again, Moby Wraps are SOOOO nice for breastfeeding, I don't know how much I'll use the Ergo early on.

  • QOTD: I will probably get a bjorn or something like it and a sling. I might not use it much but I'd like to have it if we go out of town or something.

  • I have yet another cold.  I can't seem to get myself to feel good.

I would like to get a carrier I can use.  I had a cheap one with my daughter and her legs were always too big to fit into the holes without being pinched.  I need to get a good one this time around.

I know... I didn't start using the Ergo until later on with DS.  I have a good friend using hers right now with her newborn and she has the breastfeeding position down.  She said it is easy... we will see.

We never used ours to hold the baby "all the time". It was convientent if we went to a park or museum where we had to walk alot and DS would be fussy in the stroller and it's a pain to always have a stroller.. so we would "wear" him and he would be much happier, either facing us to cuddle and fall asleep, or facing out to look all around! • Babywearing is a yes from me!

We started out with DD being a carseat/stroller baby, but she hated hated hated it, and would be hysterical all the time in it.  Now that she's older, she is fine in a stroller, but when she was littler... no way.

We started with a baby bjorn, which we liked when she was smaller, and now we have an Ergo, which we absolutely adore (and still use).  It's wonderful to be able to wear your kid...especially in places that are difficult to navigate with a stroller.

Love it.  Love it.  Love it.

This!  It makes navigating crowded places SO much easier!

I'm totally into it.  I think its a great idea.  I'd like to register for a Moby wrap, a sling, and a baby bjorn (mostly for DH).  I can't wait to be all snuggly with the baby!  :)

Are you getting the infant insert this time around so you can use it in the beginning too?

  • I am hoping this one likes the hotsling, but we also have the ergo, which I love, but my son is a biter, so when he was on my back he would bite me and I hated that. We also have a kelty backpack carrier, for the biter baby.
  • Feeling great! Not super-energetic yet, but I have no doubt it will come back to me soon...

QOTD:  As of right now, we're into it. I saw a woman at the grocery store with a sling and it looked some nice and snug... so we might do a sling and a baby carrier (Bjorn?) of some sort. I'd like to test out a few options before we register for any.

  • Yes...I think I will be getting one.  They look great for when you want to run a few errands!
  • QOTD: Babywearing: Are you into it or no?  What carriers are you gonna get/register for?

Ah, yes, FI and I have mixed feelings.  He thinks that the baby will form too much of an attachment to whoever "wears" the baby more and thus will be overly upset when that parent goes to work.  I think it is an excellent way to keep baby with you comfortably and easily and yes, I think it could promote bonding.  If we cannot agree on it though, I don't think it is that big of an issue and I am not going to buy anything until we agree.  Holding works just fine for bonding too!

  • Definitely into it.  I think there are great benefits for everyone.

Not registering for any carriers.  I've made ring slings in the past for friends and have slings for both DH and me, but plan to make another for myself that is a bit thinner than the first.  I may also look into making a Moby-type wrap, since I hear such great things about them, but it remains to be seen.

    My Blog

  • We had a Snuggli for DS and I think I personally used it twice. My sister would use it when she would babysit him if she was going to be out. I haven't decided if we will get anything this time or not.
  • QOTD: Babywearing: Are you into it or no?  What carriers are you gonna get/register for?

We have a jeep carrier for DS that we didn't use too much.  We found it to be easier to keep him in the car seat especially since he was born in September.  For us, during those cold winter months, it was easier to keep him in the seat with the bundle me.

I'd like to try something more light weight for this baby for around the house.   I think it is a great way to bond.

  • week is going pretty well, been productive at work almost all morning. and now taking a break

QOTD: yup I am , I'll probably make a moby wrap/ or register for 1 and make one. Then after Squirt is out of the little stage we may look at a baby bjorn or something.

  • QOTD:  I am on the fence about this.  One of my friends has a brand new one that she has never used and said I could have hers to see if we like it or not.  This way we won't be registering for something we don't know if we will use or not.

  • I think I'm into it. I want to get a sling for sure. I've carried my neice before (on the front) and I like it. Of course, that was 7 years ago, and I'm not as young as I was then. LOL I think I'll mostly go with recommendations about front or back carrying.

  • Maybe it's because I'm so short, but I tried six different carriers and didn't like any of them. It was more of a hassle getting the thing on/off and putting the baby in it. I'll just continue using the infant seat and put it in the shopping cart
  • Appts are good, I have a low lying placenta that will be checked again at our 20 wk US.

I want a carrier but haven't decided on which one to buy yet.

  • We have the baby bjorn and I really only used it on walks. Didn't find it very comfy and didn't like the way the baby was positioned. Not sure if I'll attempt something different with this one, although it would make sense to have something since this will be child #3 that I'm carting around.
  • not too much-i use an eddie bauer type carrier-similar to baby bjorn but cheaper.   it works for walks and some small tasks around the house.  we used it for our daughter and i really liked it.   slings didn't work for me because once baby was in them they hung too low.  like hips rather than across my chest area.   didn't like them at all.

Definitely into babywearing. I'm drawn to the wraps and ring slings, DH would rather have a Bjorn type of carrier. So we'll probably get both kinds.

The Ergo looks awesome but is so pricey. We're doing our best to bargain shop with baby stuff, so I think we'll probably end up with a Bjorn and trying to find sales on wraps.

Just food for thought.... the Ergo is a bit more expensive that the Bjorn.  BUT..... the bjorn is only worn on the front.  The Ergo can also be worn on the hip and the back.  Also, the Ergo can be used for alot longer that a Bjorn and has better back support.  You can also usually find them on Craigslist for cheaper!

Sorry if I get too excited about this... lol.  I LOVE my Ergo!

  • I want to, I'm not exactly sure which one I'm going to go with but probably the moby wrap.

  • We had a Baby Bjorn for DD#1 and that thing just kills your back after the first couple of months-- so for this one we are thinking about getting an Ergo b/c we've heard such great things about them from others.  I'd also like to get a sling type carrier for when the baby is little--anyone have any sling recommendations?

Oh, and to the person earlier who said that they don't want to have their baby want to be carried around that much.  Being held is something that babies naturally crave and you will have a much easier time accommodating this natural need than fighting it hence the help of a carrier b/c your arms get tired and you need them to do other things.

  • I don't know if I'll be into it or not, but at least I have options available to try - my sister gave us both her newborn sling and her baby Bjorn.

  • No, I am not really into babywearing.  I bought a few different carriers with DS and they were all so awkward and difficult to put on that I returned them.  I guess I'm just not coordinated enough to babywear.  lol
