Yea, so L is two weeks shy of the 2 yo mark, but I'm curious what others are feeding their toddlers? And how much milk are you giving them?
L takes about 18 oz of milk a day in the morning before breakfast and at night after dinner (yea yea, I know, but he refuses milk out of anything except a bottle and I don't want him to stop drinking milk even though he eats other dairy and he doesn't walk around w/a bottle just drinks it and is done with it, so pls no comments on that), but in addition to that he eats regular meals with us. He typically eats what we eat and doesn't eat baby food anymore unless we're somewhere we can't get him food (I take "emergency" baby food with me but less and less).
Breakfast
1 waffle with butter or syrup
1/2 banana or 1/2 cup grapes
1 yogurt (yo-baby fruit + cereal)
some OJ (prob around 2-3 oz)
Lunch
A carb (rice, pasta)
Protein (chicken, meat, beans)
Veggies (green peas, carrots, mixed veggies)
Fruit (banana or grapes)
Water (or if no juice for breakfast, juice for lunch or dinner)
Dinner
Same as lunch. These are usually the same thing we eat. I.e. today's menu was Arroz con Pollo.
Snacks
If we're out, we try to go by Starbucks for their yogurt parfaits - he LOVES those, esp the Dark Cherry one. lol. If we're home, snacks usually consist of fruit and/or crackers, cheese, or cookies.
He's had mac n cheese, spaghetti and meat w/sauce, taco, empanadas, lasagna, picadillo w/rice, sweet potato w/marshmallows, bagels w/cream cheese, a little peanut butter, and basically anything else we're eating. I also have some frozen kid meals for emergencies. Oh yea, and he'll eat pizza or chicken nuggets sometimes if we eat out or it's a party.
SO, what's your kid eating? I'm curious about offering other alternatives.
Re: What do you feed your 2-year-old/toddler?
Nicky's meals look something like this:
Breakfast:
-9 oz. cup of milk
-a fruit and cereal bar / mini pancakes /a bowl of cheerios /mini waffles
-cut up fresh fruit or a 1/2 cup of OJ
-daily vitamin
Lunch:
-1/2 sandwich of cold cuts and cheese/a mini cheeseburger / bagel bites / 1/2 grilled cheese sandwich / a bowl of macaroni and cheese / chicken nuggets
-chocolate pudding cup, a Gogurt, a fruit cup, or a few cookies.
-a cup of watered down juice since straight juice give him diarrhea
Afternoon Snack:
-a juice box or yogurt smoothie
-pretzels/ cheese cubes /goldfish crackers / cut up fruit or a Dole fruit cup / animal crackers
Dinner: If we are eating something he can eat, I offer it to him, otherwise he gets:
-9 oz cup of milk
-chicken nuggets, fish tenders, hot dog, or grilled chicken strips with a side of pasta, tater tots, french fries baked in the oven, or sweet potato fries also baked in the oven.
Before Bedtime: usually another 4.5 oz of milk and sometimes a cookie.
Nicholas will not eat a single vegetable so I try to get two good sized servings of fruit into him every day.
Funny lady!
I wish I could help you, but H is a terrible and unpredictable eater. Every meal is a battle, but she loves sweets. We've yet to figure out how to win the nutrition wars.....
Mikey eats just about anything I give him. Except for veggies. The kid does not like veggies at all, except for the fun ones like corn on the cob.
Here are things he'll eat...
Breakfast - Pancakes, Muffin Tops, Oatmeal, Toast, Eggs, Cereal
Lunch - Get's school lunch which is a variety of foods
Snacks - Nutrigrain Bar, yogurt, cheese sticks, cheese blocks, fruit, applesauce
Dinner - Whatever we eat for dinner
