What am I doing wrong? We feed on demand, but it seems to be a lot more often than you guys are feeding. Like every 2 hours at night and sometimes every 20 minutes during the day though usually every hour. Rarely does she go for more than 2 hours without a feeding. I have plenty of milk; if anything I have an oversupply. (I pump 5-6 oz every day to freeze.) She eats for anywhere from 10-20 minutes at each feeding. I'm feeding her only on one side at a feeding because I read that could help with the oversupply. Any thoughts?

Re: Spin-off re feeding 1 month old- what am I doing wrong?
You're sure gonna have an awesome supply if the baby is at your breast almost every minute of the day
What signs are you using to know she is actually hungry? Can you extend out that time a little bit by using a pacifier?
But in general, there's nothing "wrong" with your baby feeding like that, especially at her age. It probably ties you down a bit during the day and makes it hard to go out or get things done I'm guessing.

did you ask cheryl about it?
i agree with pp that it sounds like she's snacking. i nursed both sides, 15 minutes each, every 2.5-3 hours during the day.
but i'm not a pro. call cheryl. she'll give you great advice, i'm sure. and then you can tell us what she says.
I don't think you are doing anything wrong. My little man was the same way until very recently. Now, we are finally going about 4 hours between his 11 pm and 3 am feeding, but during the day, he still eats almost every 2-3 hours. He has reflux and the smaller eals are easier for him to handle. If you do have oversupply and your flow is fast, she may be getting as much as her tummy can handle in that amount time, so it's not necessarily snacking. We went to a lactation consultant who weighed hi before and after a feeding to determine that he was taking in about 2.5 oz in 10 minutes, and I know that 4 oz is about right for his intake at this point. So, sometimes he'll eat for just 10 minutes and then want more about 2 hours later, other times, he goes for longer feeds and longer breaks between. Hopefully her little system will mature over the next few weeks to give you longer breaks! Till then, just hang in there!
One tip, if you are giving any bottles of pumped milk at all, try giving her one right before bed. Our pedi suggested this to ensure that she is taking a full meal then to buy more time before the first night feed. It extended my sleep time a bit, so it might be worth a try for you!
Jack did that. At 2 mos, I put my foot down (after talking w/ the pedi about how long he should be able to go between nursings). One weekend, I put Jon in charge of him and would only nurse him every two hours (if he was even hungry then). After a couple of nursings, he ate a whole lot more rather than just a bit to tide him over.
Mind you, sometimes they really, really do need to be eating that much (i.e., growth spurt or [for me] increasing supply).
Thanks so much for all of the responses. I feel better now.
Kate is a screamer. Basically, when she screams I go straight to the boob if it has been 2 hours. If it's been 20 minutes, I check her diaper, walk her around, give her a binky... and when all else fails (as it usually does), I offer the boob. Occasionally, I will catch early signs like rooting or sucking her hands, but generally she goes from 0-60 in about 2 seconds.
And I am a huge fan of the binky. Kate? Not so much.
