I like Madeline. I think it's one of those names that everyone knows someone who knows someone named Madeline, but it's not too trendy.
Much better than Adelyn. More finished!
By the way, if you are worried about the chance of Madeline being in a class full of Madelines, a lot of these things vary from area to area. I'd check out https://www.ssa.gov/OACT/babynames/namesbystate.html to see how it ranks in your state.
I've only had one Madeline in my classes in 6 years of teaching. I think it depends on where you live.
That is so funny! I am just north of you (Twinsburg) and I have had 4 Madeline's (various spellings) in 5 years. Two years ago I had two in the same class. Luckily, one was Madelyn and the other was Madeline. One of them went by Maddie.
FWIW, I think it's a really cute name and I would use it, regardless of the popularity. It just doesn't sound good with our last name.
My SIL named her oldest Madeline, Madison is her younger sister and Maddox is their baby brother...she liked the letter M...lol! Other than that I've never met another Madeline.
It probably differs where people live, but I know personally 4 babies named Madeline/Madeleine/Madelyn. Add in the Madisons in school and there will be a lot of Maddies here!
A spinoff of Adelyn... I went to high school with a girl named Audalyn, and I always thought that was a beautiful name. She was named after her grandmother.
Re: madeline..is it really that popular?
I really do like Madeline! Adorable name.
I know 2 girls under 2 with that name but I also know 2 Katherines.
I think it is fairly popular in New England but I would still use it if it was my top choice.
The only other thing is that the nickname Maddie is really popualr b/c you also get the Madisons,etc...

There were over 14,000 babies born last year alone named Madeline. Check out this website compiled by another poster:

DD is Madelynn, and nearly 4. We have never met another Madelynn (Madelyn, Madeline etc) in any of her activities.
HTH

Madeline is one that my DH likes and it's MUCH better than Madison, but keep in mind to me it has the same NN - Maddie.
Not a big fan of Adelyn (would you pronounce it AD-UH-LYN?)

I know a lot of Madelines and Madisons, a.k.a. Maddie's... I've also noticed that Adelyn is picking up lately.
