I'm sitting here scrolling through posts and I'm completely freaked out now. I have mine today, planning to go alone and now I am wondering if I made a mistake not getting DH to go with me.
I went by myself. It was a little discomfort during the procedure, afterward I had major cramps, but they felt like period cramps. I went back to work right after.
I had mine done last yr, and as instructed by my GYN, DH drove me to the center. The procedure did hurt a bit as the dye was injected, but felt like some medium-high cramps (not the worst cramps I've had), and then it went down to low cramps (a nuscience (sp)). I would have been able to drive home, but glad DH went w/ me b/c it was during rush hr traffic, and I felt extremely bloated and irritable. However, like I said, I was perfectly fine to drive.
Also, I did have some slight spotting for about 5 days (some days heavier than others), which is perfectly normal, so don't be alarmed.

I just wanted to say good luck with yours...I have mine today too and I'm trying to stay calm about it. Just remember, even if it is uncomfortable, it will be over quickly, and you'll probably never have to have one again (hopefully!)

A lot of people don't have much discomfort at all...I had a fair amount, but the good news is that it is over really quick and then you just have some cramps, nothing major. I personally think it is better to go in prepared because I had heard from people that it was a walk in teh park and I was blindsided.... Just be prepared for a minute's worth of pain and then it is over! GOOD LUCK!!
Mine wasn't as bad as I expected it to be. uncomfortable? yes. cramps like your period? yes. But my cramps ended soon and everything was back to normal within the hour. GL!!
Mine wasn't nearly as bad as I was expecting it to be. It wasn't fun, it didn't feel good, there was a few fleeting seconds of pain but after that, nothing.
My DH did go with me, mostly b/c I had to have it done in the Birmingham office, which is 2 hours away and I wasn't sure I'd be up to driving that far afterwards. But, now that it is over, I totally could have went alone. It was nice to have him there, and as long as he *could* be there, I'm glad he was, but if he wouldn't have been able to be, it would have been fine.
I thought it wasn't a big deal at all. I have wicked AF cramps, and it was nothing compared to that. Like an irritating pap with a quick burn when they inject the dye. I had someone drive me, but I would have been fine after.
Totally pain free. I felt the speculum and three minutes later she said we were done.

Mine wasn't bad at all. I went by myself and had no issues driving home. As far as a reference, I'd say that it was twice the pain of a pap. I had a short time of nasty-ish cramps but that was it. Also, my nurse told me to take 800mg of ibuprofen before the procedure - don't know if that helped to take the edge off...
Mine did not hurt at all. The RE was great about explaining what he was doing, as he was doing it. He also asked me about a billion times if I was doing ok. (I've considered asking him to do my pap's instead of the Ob/Gyn - cause she is NOT anywhere near as gentle)
Hope that helps!

I had no pain, just a little discomfort during. The RE explained everything she was doing and let me watch it on the monitor. I was so relieved because I had built it up in my head that it was going to be painful. I did have some cramping a couple days after but this is not the norm, and I'm not even sure it was related to the HSG.
