What would you do re: p4 test?

I have always suspected a progesterone issue, but after discussing my cycles with my doctor he finds it highly unlikely.  He says I can do the test if I would like, but I don't sound typical to him of someone with problems.  This would not be a covered diagnostic because the doctor is out of network for me AND my insurance company is trying to term me pre-existing.  Would you pay the money to rule out a progesterone issue if your doctor really didn't believe that was the problem, or should I let it go?

    Find how much it will cost and go from there. If possible, perhaps you can get a different doctor to order the test. That is one of the simplest tests out there, it just has to be done at 7dpo.

    Hahaha!  I thought CD3 was simple, and I have a hefty bill for $340.  I think I'm hesitant because CD3 testing showed that everything looked normal.  I know I should be thankful that I ruled something out, but all I can see are $$$ that didn't lead me to any answers.  I do think I'll call tomorrow and see if they can give me an estimate.  I'll see what lab they send it to because the CD3 stuff got billed to the lab and not the doctor.

    I have never had a spotting issue during my LP and my LP is always at least 13 days.  p4 test after p4 test showed low progesterone.  This was an indication to my doctor that I was not ovulating strong enough on my own and now I'm doing rounds of clomid.  Just my experience!  GL

    I'd do it for peace of mind...

    FWIW, my insurance got billed $15 for the draw and $48 for the lab work when I got my progesterone test.  Obviously all docs/labs have different rates, but I can't imagine it being that different.

    That's not bad at all.  I can handle the totals if they look similar to that, and we're in the same state so you would think the market would be pretty darn similar.  Thanks for the info!
