2nd Trimester

Navel rings, Dandruff and B.O. oh my!

so...

1.) When should I think about taking my navel ring out?  People are telling me soon, but my bump is not big and stretching my belly out.  I still have the 'rollover' effect and the ring is not tight.  In fact it's always been a size or 2 bigger than needed.  Any one else with navel rings?

2.)  Maybe this is because my skin is parched lately...but dandruff?  Anyone else experiencing this too?

3.) the grossest and final comment...I NEVER used to have B.O.  I'd work 8 hours, go to the gym and still not smell without wearing deodorant.  Now I cannot make it a couple hours before I can smell myself.  And that's with using my husband's deodorant (because mine was not cutting it). EW! Can anyone recommend anything for this disgusting symptom?

Is this the glow?  I don't feel glow-y.

Re: Navel rings, Dandruff and B.O. oh my!

  • I don't have those particular symptoms, but I thought I'd add one to the "unpleasant so-called glow" thing...

Bodily hair!  I used to have a few stray dark hairs that I'd pluck, but now they seem to be coming faster and more of it!  Aaack!   I hope they go away after the baby's born or I'll be paying more visits to the electrolycist after all these years :(

  • 1. I don't have one but they do make pregnancy belly rings.

    2. I got dandruff while pg with DS and it is back with this LO as well. I just use a dandruff shampoo and a moisturizing conditioner.

    3. Try a extra strength woman's deodorant like secret's clinical strength instead of your husbands.

  • I swapped out my balls on my belly ring to just stainless steel balls and I have loads of room, if I need to, I'll get a pregnancy ring. I don't think my top piercing will have problems but I'm glad I let my lower belly piercing heal up a while ago, that would be a hot mess.
  • I just took out by navel ring yesterday and I hit 5 months last Friday.  It wasn't really stretching, but I was starting to feel a little silly being an expectant mother and having an Eeyore navel ring.  It was kind of sad.  A little like saying good-buy to my single days.  DH laughed and said that he's always thought it was silly.  He did the same thing the night I got it when we were 17.  Le sad...

  • I had to go get a different deodorant because the brand I used for years and years no longer worked...and I felt disgusting.  The first one I bought made me throw up cause it was so fruity and the I bought a degree one for men.

I asked my stylist the other day why I had flaky stuff in my hair and she said a lot of pregnant womens skin totally dries out and your hair is a place you can't put lotion on it.

I am a little on the funktified side of life right now, but with many trips to target I will be normal again

  • I second the secret clinical strength.
  • With my 1st pregnancy I switched out my navel ring to a pregnancy piercing around 28 weeks (only b/c my OB was starting to make comments about it... I probably could have waited longer). The hole got stretched out a bit by the end, but it went down (never back to its original state though). I haven't switched it out yet this time.

I've had mine since I was 18 and I just can't go without it, I hate the way my belly button looks nekkid LOL. Though the bottom belly piercing I did one night after drinking and THAT was epic stupid.

  • I can't help with #1 or #2 but I will tell you that I still use, and always have - Teen Spirit Deodorant.  I have tried other brands and lines but this stuff works GREAT!  Maybe give it a try.  It's made for all those teens going through puberty and crazy hormones!  Whenever I wear it I never sweat!

  • No clue on the belly rings...

I occassionally use Head and Shoulders if I get a little dry in the scalp- I can usually go back to my regular shampoo soon after. My skin's actually really nice, except for the breakouts on my face!

And as for BO... yeah, I stink, and can't win. I swear I apply deoderant 3 or 4 times a day, and still smell. :( Sorry I'm not much help there either!

    Yay pregnancy!

  • I absolutely have developed Dandruff and BO! I haven't had dandruff since I was a teen, but it's sooo bad right near my forehead. It's embarassing. Also, I have played sports my whole life, and I never had BO. I hardly used to sweat. While I don't sweat a ton now, I have BO so bad. I'm currently searching for a new brand of deodorant/antiperspirant. I don't think the BO is so bad that other smell it when I am clothed, but when I get home I can definitely tell I'm yucky!
  • I'm glad there are others of you who have both the top and bottom of your belly button pierced! Not that I thought I was the only one, but it's not as common. Mine are still in with no stretching and lots of room to spare, but I'm wondering when I should take them out too....

  • I only need to take my out if it's causing a problem. I" actually getting a pg bellyring. It's made out of hospital grade Teflon and in barbell style. You can choose various drops or balls for it and also cut to fit. My Dr. was perfectly fine with having one in the entire pregnancy.

What i noticed for me is "down there" ois definitely stronger. I didn't normally spell myslef when going to peeEmbarrassed

I also notice, which isn't a bad thing, that i have my wave/curls back. When I was a baby I had really curly hair, that didn't last long. It ended up stick straight. Now I have body and even waves and curls on good days.

This- I had to switch to Secret Clinical Strength with DS or I stunk!

  •    I kept my belly button ring in until about 7 months with my first, but only because it started to tear,  and even then, I would just put it back through a couple times a day to keep the hole open. I'm 17 weeks now and still have it in. However, my belly has grown a lot faster this time than it did with DS. I'll keep it in as long as possible (until it gets painful or starts to tear again). I've had it for over 10 years, so it's part of me. I feel naked without it. I'll put it back in probably the day after I give birth, just like I did the first time.
