i'm making this rag doll for my niece. I have done this before and make the doll to match the little girl's features. My niece has bright red hair, but her mom is kinda self-conscious about it. I can't decide what yarn to use. And of course, the only place locally to get yarn is Walmart, which has crap.
any suggestions. ???
Re: redheaded rag doll
I take back what I said - Tuscon is right! Screw the mom's insecurities, don't "gift" them to the daughter (all too common - I catch myself doing it to my own daughter!).
i just remembered that grandMIL has a closet full of yarn, and i will see her before i see my niece, so i will find something there. (yeah for GMIL - free yarn!!) I might do a rusty-reddish color, in case her hair tones down in the future, but as of 1 yr old, it is quite bright red.
FWIW, i'd love to have a red-head too. I think the mom's just tired of the odd comments people make about the baby's hair (????? )
What's wrong with red hair? ::looks at siggy::
I'm in the process of making some rag dolls, too, and I'm thinking of using some Blue Sky Alpacas Alpaca Silk in Brick for the redhead. It's lovely and stoft and shiny, but a little spendy. I got mine at kpixie.com.
