Please help!! LO started with excessive night-waking about 10 days ago...she was going anywhere from 6-8hrs. before waking. She got 2 teeth a month ago and has symptoms of teething(but no gum swelling or new teeth yet). She's also starting to sit and is creeping(and working her way to crawling).
Last night was the worst one so far, she was up almost 2hrs. before I gave in and went to the store for Tylenol. By the time I got home, DH had got her back to sleep so I didn't use it. Do u green mamas use it? We already use Highland's teething tablets...they usually help, but not so much at night.
We rock her, we lay down with her, we put her in swing, give her frozen washcloths, teething toys...last night nothing was working.
Don't know what to do next!! TIA for any suggestions.
Re: night waking/teething solutions
I got a teething necklace and it's done wonders. My ds is getting his two year molars in and was waking multiple times a night crying and in the morning I found him holding the side of his face a few times. Since we got the teething necklace he seldom wakes at night and I don't think it's ever because of pain since he goes right back to sleep.
I don't think it's a coincidence that he woke up twice last night and it took an hour and a half to get him back to sleep the second time and this morning I found his necklace on the sink where I'd left it after his bath.
most teething necklaces are carefully crafted with knots between each bead so you don't have to worry about them swallowing beads, and a break-away clasp so there is no strangulation risk.
i was going to say that although we use a necklace, and have tried the hylands tablets, the only thing that remotely works for a good night sleep lately is alternating Motrin and Tylenol, and having DS sleep with me so that if we wakes i can quickly soothe him back to sleep.
i was a mamma that swore she wouldn't excessively use the meds, but we've been using them maybe once a week the past month or so because it has been such a desperate kind of pain he's had some nights.
You might not check back to this but just in case.
Yep a lot of the women on here use them on their dc's. The oils in baltic amber are a natural pain reliever so as the beads warm against the skin they release the oils which are absorbed and provide a constant pain reliever. Like Jenn said - the clasp is magnetic so if it were to get caught on something it would just pull off rather than strangling him and the beads are all knotted individually so if the necklace were to somehow break there wouldn't be a big pile of little chokeable beads everywhere. That said - my ds is rough with it. Once he realized that the magnetic clasp was there, he pulled on it all the time to play with it and it's never broken despite the abuse that he's given it. Now that he's used to it he doesn't even do that anymore and it's been a god send.
