Where would I be without you ladies?? I have so many questions but I am so nervous =(
1.) My OB is doing my lap, did you have your OB or RE do it? I'm assuming the OB is fine to do it..?
2.) Does everyone get that really bad gas pain? If you got it what helped you? How bad is it, is it bearable..?
3.) Did anyone have the lap and they didn't find anything??
4.) I have my post-op at 6 weeks past surgery, shouldn't it be 2 weeks?
5.) Did anyone get blood clots or pneumonia or anything from the surgery?
6.) How long before you felt normal again?
I appreciate all the feedback (hugs) I guess I just need to ramble I'm very nervous, it's this Thursday..... any input is welcomed.
Re: Laparoscopy questions....
1.) My OB is doing my lap, did you have your OB or RE do it? I'm assuming the OB is fine to do it..? My RE did my lap
2.) Does everyone get that really bad gas pain? If you got it what helped you? How bad is it, is it bearable..? I did not have really bad gas pain - just some pressure in my lower belly - no pain in the shoulder or anything like that.
3.) Did anyone have the lap and they didn't find anything?? Yes, me - I had a lap and they found nothing - but we are MFI - I just did the lap to rule out everything before starting IVF.
4.) I have my post-op at 6 weeks past surgery, shouldn't it be 2 weeks? Yes, mine was about 2 weeks after surgery.
5.) Did anyone get blood clots or pneumonia or anything from the surgery? No - I was fine
6.) How long before you felt normal again? Two whole weeks - I was in bed for about 3 days - it was hard to get in and out of bed - I was sore - I had no pain medicine - I was up and walking around after 3 days though but I did not feel 100% until about two weeks after surgery.
Good Luck.
It is normal to be nervous. Surgery is scary.
1. My RE did it.
2. I had no gas pains whatsoever.
3. Sadly for me they found stage 3 endo. : (
4. Yes you should see your doctor a week later. Two weeks even seems long to me.
5. No
6. I had a hysteroscopy at the same time so my healing took about a week. Lap alone I hear takes a day or 2.
Good luck!
My OB did my first lap because I wasn't seeing an RE then
The gas has got to come out somehow...so, I assume everyone has it. To what extent, I'm not sure. But, that was the worst part for me. Walking around HELPS!
N/A-mine was to diagnose endo they already figured was there because of a mass on my ovary
Most post-ops seem to be 6 weeks. Mine was 2
No-I did have allergic reaction to glue used
couple of days i was back to work with the first one
GOOD LUCK!
1.) My OB is doing my lap, did you have your OB or RE do it? I'm assuming the OB is fine to do it..? My RE did mine. I assume as long as your OB has performed these enough times, it should be fine.
2.) Does everyone get that really bad gas pain? If you got it what helped you? How bad is it, is it bearable..? I really didn't have that bad of gas pain... just sore, pulling feelings. I've heard from other girls though that laying flat helps to distribute the gas all over. It's only when upright or sitting inclined that it all gets stuck in your shoulders.
3.) Did anyone have the lap and they didn't find anything?? Unfortunately not the case for me, they found Stage II endo.
4.) I have my post-op at 6 weeks past surgery, shouldn't it be 2 weeks? My follow-up was at 2 weeks post-op.
5.) Did anyone get blood clots or pneumonia or anything from the surgery? Nope. My surgery just resituated a tumor I had in my back that I didn't know I had. Laying on the table so long in stirrups apparently moved it to press on my nerve bundle and caused me a lot of pain afterward. I thought my doctor hit a nerve, but it turned out to be a tumor. I guess it was a mixed blessing... if I hadn't had the surgery, the tumor wouldn't have moved, but I also wouldn't have known it was there!
6.) How long before you felt normal again? I had mine on a Friday and went back to work the following Wednesday. I took it easy for the next week and was fine by the time I went to my post-op appt at 2 weeks out... well fine besides the tumor. ;-)
You'll be fine! It's natural to be nervous before a big procedure like this. But it was only a few hours and I was in a recovery room. In and out of the hospital same day. I hope yours goes as smoothly! Good luck!
1.) My OB is doing my lap, did you have your OB or RE do it? I'm assuming the OB is fine to do it..? My RE did my lap (and hysteroscopy/chromotubation.. all together)
2.) Does everyone get that really bad gas pain? If you got it what helped you? How bad is it, is it bearable..? yes! But it didn?t feel like gas.. I felt bloated.. but the pressure went to my ribs and collar bone on my right side.. heating pads are your friend.. it seemed to take the edge off.. I was on Tylenol codeine and motrin?
3.) Did anyone have the lap and they didn't find anything?? Nope? they found all sorts of stuff.. and I even have the pics to prove it?
4.) I have my post-op at 6 weeks past surgery, shouldn't it be 2 weeks? Mine was 2 weeks.. but I went back sooner
5.) Did anyone get blood clots or pneumonia or anything from the surgery? nope
6.) How long before you felt normal again? 2 weeks is about fair.. the worst day for me was the day after.. but you feel a little better everyday? just take it easy? my surgery was just over 2 weeks ago and I feel great? every now and then I get a sharp pain in my belly button.. but that?s it!
Good luck to you!!!!!!!!!!
