We love the name Jack for a boy, but I'm nervous giving that as the baby's first name, since I always thought of it as a nickname for John (which I don't like). I know in theory you can name the baby anything you want, but I don't want it to be like naming him Joe, Jim or Bob where it would be weird if that was your formal first name. What do you think??
Re: Can we just name him Jack?
Yes! My grandma's husband (not my grandpa) was named Jack. Just Jack. I'm friends with two guys named Jack. I like Jack a lot more than John too.
ETA: Don't use Jackson. I think that uber trendy name ruins the classic feel of Jack. ?
I've never even heard of it as a nn for John....
You could always make it more formal
like Jackson or something

My FIL's name is John, but everyone calls him Jack. So when DH and I decided to name our LO after our fathers, we figured we would just name him Jack Thomas, since we will be calling him Jack anyway!
DH hates names that have nicknames, so this is perfect for us - if we have a boy that is!
