1st Trimester

Does zofran generic = cramps?

I took it once, on Friday (can't remember the name, begins with an A, and I feel too ugh-ish to walk two flights of stairs to check the name).  That night, I had horrible cramps.  The next morning I had slight cramps, and didn't take the meds.  Haven't had cramps since, but have been avoiding the meds.

Has this happened to anyone?  I'm not spotting, thankfully, but if the tradeoff for no nausea is horrible stomach cramps, I suppose I should take the nausea.

Re: Does zofran generic = cramps?

  • I have taken zofran for about a month now and haven't noticed this side effect. Sorry.

  • I take the same thing... have had pains / cramps down there (which I thought were somewhat normal) but not stomach cramping.

  • Hmm.  I wonder if it was just a weird coincidence.  I haven't had any cramping at all aside from that.  Maybe I'll give it another shot, this nausea is killing me.

  • The generic name for Zofran is Ondansetron.

I take the generic and haven't had any stomach cramps. It does cause constipation though. Any chance you were constipated?

  • I've been on Zofran for 8 weeks and no cramps... the side effect for me is headaches and constipation. I'll take a headache over vomiting. Agree with PP that it could have been constipation cramps? Hope you feel better!

Colace helps with the constipation.  I have not had any problems with cramps though and there is no way I would pay for the non generic it was like $1000+ for the prescription the insurance said noway they will only cover part of the non genaric cost BOO on insurance.

  • I've been taking Zofran for about 10 days and it gives me painful stomach cramps!  Not menstrual type cramps though thankfully.  It also makes me feel extremely sleepy, although not as bad as Phenegran.  It's a total trade-off for me-nausea v. stomach cramps and fatigue.  Honestly my nausea is bad enough I usually go for the Zofran, but I don't love it.  I have my eyes on the glorious prize of the second tri!!!!!!
  • ive been taking it for about three weeks and never experienced that, but do have constipation. i will take constipation over puking all the time though.
  • Hmm, maybe it was constipation.  I'll go pop two prunes and then the meds and see how it goes.

Just curious - is it safe to take zofran with regular strength Tylenol?
