LOL- 2 of your neighbors had train tables for sale at that big yardsale. DH and I are still questioning why we didn't buy one of them! I wish I could remember who they were- so you could see if they still have them. If you find a deal somewhere, please let me know!
Noah had the imaginarium train table (we paid $179 and it came with a train set --I believe) and I just gave it to my friend, Antoinette for her son. Truthfully my house isn't very big so it really never fit in the house just took up space. I still have all the trains for Maggie to use if she wants to (I will let you know if I decide to get rid of them). We will just build the train on the floor (like in the olden days when train tables were invented yet). I thought the train table was great and it had two drawers, but really you will need a big tote to store all the trains. We have several sets and it won't fit in the drawers. So if you are looking for a table I wouldn't buy it just because it has the drawers. Oh and just tape the directions to your trainset on the bottom of the table so you won't loose them (just my fun mom tip).
We have one of the smaller tables and ended up getting a second table to put next to it as it wasn't enough "train area". So I would go for the full sized table.
Ridge likes all the Thomas characters but I wouldn't spend the extra money for the actual Thomas table. You can find good deals at Toys R Us on Immaginarium and a few other brands.
We have the table from Land of Nod. It has 2 storage bins underneath, converts to 3 heights and has a paper roller on one end (we bought the entire set). We have a really basic train set on it right now as we're just getting into trains. It was pricey but I like the fact that it grows with them and he can use it as a desk eventually.
Re: I want to get carter a train/activity table?

Did not mean for that to be a book--sorry!
