We just have a regular wood rocking chair in our room, and I'm not missing the ottoman part of it. I can see how it would be comfy, but not really needed if you ask me.

Trying again..
I went without the ottoman for 3 months and couldn't take it anymore. I had to have DH go buy the matching ottoman. I had colicky twins and we spent alot of time in the glider and my feet and lower legs would throb. Once I got the ottoman, I could rock for hours and even fell asleep a few times in it!

I'd go check 'em out in stores yourself. I did not think that I would need an ottoman until DH & I went to Babies R us to register. I sat down in the glider put my feet up in the ottoman, and I swear I was going to fall asleep. Who need a blow up bed when there's gliders sold with ottomans?

I don't think it was a must, but I did need something to elevate my knees while BFing in the glider. The ottoman was okay, but it rocks, too, so I couldn't stabilize as well, KWIM? I think next time I'd rather just get a nursing stool or other footstool. Besides, the ottoman takes up extra space, and our nursery is pretty small.
I did most of my nursing on the couch during the day, night feedings (when DD was still doing them) in my bed, because she slept in a cradle by our bed, and when she was older, I nursed before naps and bedtime in the glider. And I don't use the ottoman much at all for just rocking. So, no, I don't think it's a must.
We didn't use either really. But if you are gonna get a glider, might as well get the ottoman - it is super comfy that way. Ours is the tooth brushing chair now. =D
I use my glider and the ottoman daily. I love it. While it isn't a necessity, neither is the glider. But both are so nice. I would recommend that if you get the glider you get something to put your feet on, whether an ottoman or a footstool of some sort.
YES YES no chair was more comfy with my swollen post partum ankles and a cranky baby!! I used the ottoman every night. PLUS it was a little soft spot for DH to sit when he was supporting me through those long middle of the night breastfeeding sessions!!

Heck yes we did. We'll use it again too. We spent many many many comfortable hours in our glider and ottoman. I wouldn't buy it without it. That's just me. Well and my husband. He feels the same way.
