I had an ultrasound tech scan me at work (I'm 13 weeks) and there was a perfect crotch shot. So, naturally, I'm analyzing what I see. I see two lines (labia?)...isn't this what they look for on girls? Wouldn't there be a *small* turtle head visible if it was a boy? She told me to come back in 3 wks and they can tell for sure. 3 weeks??? I wouldn't think a tiny penis would pop up between now and then.
Opinions, please???? ![]()
Re: Maybe too early, but......
The genitalia look like the same on boys & girls at 13 weeks except for the angle of the "tubercle."
Look at these pics:

I can't tell anything from that picture! LOL.

This!!
You beat me to it!!
Exactly as she said...13 week is really too early to be able to tell. Just wait until your anatomy scan. Plus, for a girl there's 3 lines not 2.
At 13 weeks, boys and girls both have something that looks like a penis. The angle is what matters. If you think you see labia, I think you're seeing something else, as that is not developed yet.?
Better to wait, dear.?
I'm pretty sure at 13 weeks they still both look the same. Both boys and girls have "turtle heads" early on... it's just that within about 3 weeks (I was told by 16 weeks) the boys gain a penis and the girls gain a clitoris, and there are no more "turtle heads." 3 weeks is definitely enough time though, things happen really fast on those little babies we have!!! Imagine, 40 weeks to become completely able to live in the world for 70-80-90 years?!?!
That said, at 13 weeks my ultrasound technician was pretty sure I had both a boy and a girl, but because she looked between both legs, and the two areas were VERY different from each other. Don't know if she's right yet!
I had a U/S at 12 weeks and he said it was a boy, but then at 18W it was def. a girl. the U/S Tech did the 18 week scan, and said you CANNOT tell at 12 weeks what the sex is. They all look alike.
(and she said the dr. that told me it was prob a boy was famous in the office for telling people his "guess" lol)
At 13 weeks things kind of look a little bit the same. I'm pretty sure the earliest you can get a difinative shot is 15-16 weeks and most of the time it's only if you're having a boy. We were able to tell we were having a boy at 15w6d.
Like pp said, too early. But here's something funny--my sonographer said the girls always have their hands up by their ears like they're talking on the phone, and the boys always have a hand down by their crotch (of course). Obviously just anecdotal and silly, but DD always had her hand up by her face in u/s pics, and she still sometimes falls asleep that way!
