Ok, so I know that caffeine is super bad for me right now at 7 wks, but what about a carmel frappuccino from starbucks? Not really a whole lot of caffeine in it and I doubt I would be drinking it every day.... hmmmm...
I switched to the strawberry banana vivanno smoothies. OMG DELICIOUS and no caffeine Oh, and they also have vanilla fraps which are delicious with no coffee in them.
OMG really? I really could care less about having any caffeine at all. I just love the taste of a carmel frappuccino. So the cream based frappuccino, thats the one that they offer to children right?
I work at starbucks...so here's a solution. Get a cream based caramel frappuccino with a decaf shot. Tastes the same.
My Dr said when they take the caffeine out of drinks they put in a different chemical that is actually worse for you than caffeine (obviously isn't going to cause a m/c or anything, but worse somehow). I'm not sure if that's just with coke or with coffee as well.
I always get the vanilla bean frap with caramel sauce (not syrup). It only has milk, vanilla bean flavored "powder", ice, and of course caramel sauce mixed in. Though I get them to drizzle the sides of the glass with caramel, and also put some on top of my whipped cream. YUM!
You're right, and I completely forgot about that, but it's called methylene chloride and that IS what we use at sbux. And after just now doing a little research, it turns out that Methlene chloride in your body turns into carbon monoxide. And it DOES cross the placenta, though they dont know WHAT it does yet.
Ditto this exactly. I get 1/2 caf mochas and have since before pregnancy - but even a fully charged mocha only has 134 mg of caffeine anyhow. My doctor said stick to one coffee or 2 sodas max a day. No problemo!

So I say just stick with caffinated caramel frap.
Thanks for the info! I didn't know what it was called, but remembered the Dr saying something about it. I've had a few diet drinks during this pregnancy (mostly in the 3rd tri) and am not totally worried about it, but I guess when you have the choice it's better to have a little caffeine.
I used to work at SB, and some stores offer decaf fraps (ours did), but not all, so ask. But also, having one once in awhile isnt going to hurt your baby either- promise!!!

It's been a recent thing that NO starbucks offers decaf fraps anymore. How unfortunate.

I know that our store hardly ever sold them, so I guess that makes sense from a business standpoint.
Re: Starbucks????
I don't know what you define as "super bad" but I believe Starbucks has their caffeine amounts per drink posted on their website.
FWIW, I had 1 - 2 cups of coffee a day through my entire pregnancy. Have you talked to your Dr. about this?
My BFP Chart~

A Venti Carmel Frappuccino only has 155mg of caffeine. It is considered safe to have between 250-300mg a day.
Enjoy your drink!

Same here.. my doctor said it's perfectly fine..

?
Sorry to burst your bubble but green tea isn't supposed to be good for you during pregnancy either. ?
Maybe we all should just be tube fed during pregnancy.?
