I kind of regret giving it to DS. I think he is way too dependant on it now & if it falls out of his mouth he gets soo angry (even wakes him up). Did anyone not give a paci as an option to LO.[Poll]
DS likes a paci about 50% of the time and then after that whenever I try to put it in his mouth to comfort him - he gets angry and spits it out. I feel lucky because the Pedi told me that at about 6 or 7 months you take the paci away. So maybe I won't have an issue weaning him off of it?? ::Crosses my fingers::

Never gave one to LO. She can't miss something she never had. Plus I just saw it as one less thing to wean from. I would have given her one if I felt that she really needed it though, but I went in wanting to avoid it if at all possible.
I tried with my DD but she had a very strong tongue thrust so it wouldn't stay in her mouth. I plan on trying with DS when he is born because it has been shown that a paci for naps and bedtime helps reduce the risk of SIDS.
DS is really good at self soothing, i do give him his paci - when he is falling asleep and its on the side of him in the morning. Usually he won't even take it - just spits it right out. I give it to him only if its absolutely nec. when we are out
I voted use it, love it. However, I only use it at bed time or at naps since our pedi said it can reduce the risk of sids. I've tried to give it to her a couple of other times during the day but she was never interested so I just gave up.
Originally I didn't want to use one but they gave him one in the hospital overnight. Now, I love it. DS doesn't use it that often but it comforts him when I can't.
Thank God for DS's paci. I wouldn't have survived colic without it. He needs to suck to soothe, and I figure its easier to wean him from his paci than it is to cut off his thumb/fingers.
