Welcome Home parade for troops

Sunday we have a huge welcome home parade for a unit of troops from our area.  I'm so excited for this.  I think it's going to be such an awesome experience for us and for our kids.  The town is already getting prepared and there are signs and flags everywhere.  I have a lot of family that has been over in Iraq and Afghanistan, and even though they aren't a part of this battalion, it's still exciting.  Not sure if it's pregnancy or what, but everytime I think about it get choked up about it.

    My DH used to be in the military and we went through 2 deployments together.  Welcome home parades ALWAYS get me choked up....so you're not alone.  That's really wonderful that your town is doing that--they really appreciate knowing that their service hasn't gone unnoticed (even if they ARE modest about it).

    That is exciting! And they definitely deserve the fanfare and celebration. Good for you for getting your kids involved and making it a big deal for them too!

    My husband is currently deployed to Afghanistan.  It is awesome to see this kind of support!  I know that the troops really appreciate it!

    This is awesome! I wish I lived in a place that celebrated what these men(& women) do!

    I think since I live in a city where there are so many bases (2 Marine and I think 3 Navy) that people just become numb to it. Its sad....
