anyone have a combi umbrella stroller?

I was at BRU and tried the Maclaren and the Combi, and actually think that I prefer the Combi.  I wanted a stroller that can recline all the way, so I would need to go with the top of the line Maclaren ($219) vs the combi ($119).  The combi got mixed reviews on BRU, so I was curious if anyone here had one and liked or hated it.

  • I really considered the combi when I was looking for a light weight stroller but I hated the fact that it had the double fold!  That drove me nuts - that you had to fold it in half and then in half again - how do you do that with one hand?

The Maclaren is lovely and I almost bought it from e-bay - you can get them brand new for practically half the price - they just might be last years' model or something.  I ended up getting the City Mini by Baby Jogger - I LOVE IT!  It has so many features - great big canopy, reclines all the way, is light weight - not as light as the Maclaren, but really easy to lift in and out of the car due to the fact that it has the simplest fold EVER!  Check it out.  They also have the micro which doesn't recline - but it is cheaper.

  • I have it and I like it, but I wouldn't get it again if I had the choice.  My main complaints are the fold (it's SO compact, which is nice, but you need two hands), the microscopic basket, and DH is tall and sometimes kicks the back wheels.

I have the combi and do not double fold it. That is mostly if your trunk is small and need it to be compact but it easily folds up and you can put it away without the double fold. On that note, I am not a fan of umbrella strollers.

  • We have a Combi Cosmo and I love it. It's perfect for us. Tiny basket, but that's to be expected on an umbrella, and I love how narrow it folds up. The light weight is great too.

  • love the combo cosmo ex at bru . we did want the recline maclaren too  and compared them both . It works for us - you do  need 2 hands to close it in the begining and now i can do it one handed , has a carry strap , and the  recline  feature is great . GL
  • I have a Combi as well...I actually have the infant seat that goes with it-and that was our VERY AWESOME travel system. We never do the double fold, ever. We close it once and put it in the trunk. If we put it in the house, we do the double fold so it stands up.

I love it. I have a bugaboo...if that tells you anything.

I'm wanting to TTC for baby number 2, and I will get the double Combi for sure.

  • I agree about the small basket and it being a little more difficult to fold all the way up.  I love the carrying strap and the fact it folds up so small.  It is easy to manuever but I do have problems on uneven surfaces (i.e. going from tile to carpet).  I loved the fact that an infant car seat can snap into it.  I have  a chicco travel system and I love that stroller the best but the combi is great for in and out trips.
