FF small amounts every 15 mins or so

I will be taking care of my sister's infant along with mine starting next week.  She was just over at my house for two hours and I saw her feed her LO about an ounce every 15 mins or so.  It was so continuous and always in small amounts - talk about a lot of work.  Is this normal?  My LO eats every 2 hours.

Should I keep up this feeding schedule or try for longer periods and larger amounts...if that's even possible to do.

Re: FF small amounts every 15 mins or so

  • No offense, but if someone asked this same question about your child, I think you'd insist that they keep your schedule that you and your LO have set.  How can you expect to do something different to someone else?

  • i would want to know if there is a reason behind that madness.  i've never heard of that and it sounds incredibly tiring.
  • That is way too much work!! Are you kidding me?? An ounce every 15 mins?? I would go insane!! Feed a larger amount to put more time in between feeedings. Mine eats 4-5 ounces every 3 1/2 to 4 hours. Thats much easier than an ounce every 15 mins!!!
  • I should mention that I don't think my sister purposefully put her on this continuous schedule.  She even complains about it and says that was the reason why she stopped BFing was because it was so often and her LO would only stay on for small amounts.

I want to respect my sister's feeding schedule obviously, but I remember my pedi telling me something about trying to obtain larger time periods between feedings by using a paci, etc.
