s/o washing baby clothes...

Are you washing everything? I'm hesitant to wash too much before I know how big (or small...haha, not likely!) he will be. How are you ladies deciding how much to wash?

We really don't have all that much 0-3 month or 3-6 month clothes, so we washed everything. I have already received as gifts or picked up a few 6-9 months and I'm going to leave that for later to wash--mainly because I'm not sure how much of it he'll be able to fit into when, in terms of weather.

  • Onesies, blankets, footie sleepers are always safe to wash early because they can be worn big anyway. Other than that, it really is hard to know.

  • Good question! We got a ton of hand-me-downs and I was planning to wash it all. Most of the stuff we get new with tags I'll probably hold off washing until she's here (just hang in her closet).
  • I washed all the hand me down clothes we received and anything I couldn't take back to the store.  I am holding off on some the stuff I get with tags and receipts in case I need to return it because of size.

  • I was lucky that my Mom put in a load for me while I was at the hospital.

I took a couple of outfits to the hospital to see what size would fit.

Any chance you could have a couple of different loads (by sizes) and then ask someone at home to do a load before you get home?

Our IF journey: 1 m/c, 1 IVF with only 3 eggs retrieved yielding Dylan and a lost twin, 1 shocker unmedicated BFP resulting in Jace, 3 more unmedicated pregnancies ending in more losses.
Total score: 6 pregnancies, 5 losses, 2 amazing blessings that I'm thankful for every single day.
  • Most of his clothes are hand-me-downs (thank you sil!!!) so we are washing everything 0-3. The 3-6 mo. stuff in his dresser will also be washed. We will have 3-6 hanging in the closet unwashed. I'd rather wait until closer to wash them. Anything 6mo + is staying packed away.

That's a good idea! Yes, we have plenty of people who could throw a load in!

  • We don't really have people that close to throw a load in for us so I am actually planning to wash all the 0-6 monhts clothes since it's mostly gowns and onsies.  Then he should be all set.  I left all the nbs stuff in a pile w/tags still on just in case he needs them. The way I figure it, he will be able to get away with wearing the bigger sizes no matter if he's 10 lbs but the NB is the questionable stuff.
