I know everyone recovers differently but, my recovery was easy! The first 3 weeks were awful but after that I was up and at 'em.
I also saw someone worry about the scar, mine is smaller than a dollar bill. It looks great and is down low so you couldn't see it unless I was in the buff. Well, I guess it depends on what kind of swim suits you wear!
I guess what I am trying to say is that, I asked for mine and had no regrets. I was in cervidil/pitocin induced labor without an epi for 14 hours (didn't progress far enough for one) and when the Dr. offered to restart the induction process a few days later, I came up out of the bed and told him he was doing a c-section.
Re: In regards to fear of c-sections..
IDK, I had fantastic insurance.
I had 4 hospital stays, a 3 week hospital bedrest, and only paid a grand.
I am scared of having a c-section. But I know that if I need one and my doc recommends it then I'm sure I won't even think twice about getting one.
I'm sure the recovery process has something to do with your age, your physical fitness/health etc. I don't think I would have a hard time recovering I would just be disappointed because I really want a vag. birth.
I also had a very easy recovery with my first c-section. I was totally off pain meds two days after I came home from the hospital. I couldn't run any marathons or anything, but I could take care of my daughter just fine. While my scar is still a little raised, it is so low that no one would ever see it except my husband. No days were ever "awful" for me. I'm hoping this one will be as easy!
I had zero pain after 3 weeks and quit walking hunched over, I could also get in and out of bed alone.
People make it seem like you have to recover for months.
I had a great recovery too. ?I was up and around before leaving the hospital. ?I stayed on the pain meds for a couple of days after, but I had an episiotomy too and honestly that hurt A LOT more. ?My c-section scar (4 years later) is completely unnoticable and so far down that noone would ever see it. ?
There are moms I know who thought a c-section was awful and moms who would dive into another c-section no questions asked (like me). ?It all depends on the person. ?You do what you have to do.?
Ditto- only I have a 3 yr old, not 4 yr old.
But I DO understand the circumstances under which you asked for one. Sort of like how I asked for that epi that I thought I'd try to manage without! LOL
I get it. And it's always awesome when a c-section or an induction goes well even though it (obviously) may not have been the original preference.
I loved my experience with a vaginal delivery and I guess I just want it again. And I'm terrifed of a c-section... but of course when the time comes, I'll do whatever it takes to get the baby here safely!

I had a c/s on july 21st...i had an epi and that was fine. I had no pain meds and was able to get up after 24 hours (I was given magnesium and had to be on bed rest for 24 hours...this was b/c of preeclampsia, not the c/s)
it is now 9 days later and I am fine. just feels like AF cramps- still no pain meds either.
C/S was fine, no biggie.
Very true! I got to see my daughter straight away, my husband got to cut the cord & she was put onto my chest & we had skin to skin contact right there in the operating theatre, I was even able to start?breast-feeding?her in recovery. The only difference is how she came out. Maybe its different here in Australia? I don't understand the hysteria
I think the?biggest?obstacle?to bonding after a c-section is people telling you that it will interfere with bonding.
