Hi, I'm a lurker and spend a lot of time on PAL board-- I just didn't want you to think I was doing a drive-by...I am a real, live, second-time working mom!
Just needed to share this...
I do have the good fortune to have my kids at a top-rated daycare center only a couple blocks from where I work. DS is still nursing (which I never would have guessed would work out so long), so I go there on my lunch hour for my "Evan-time" to feed him and snuggle. I get to interact a lot with his classmates and teachers.
So today when I went in they were doing waterplay--they stripped all of the babies down to their diapers and let them play with a little tub of water. Every few minutes the teacher would spritz them all with a mister and the kids went nuts--they loved it! She had a milk carton that she poked holes in the bottom and poured water through ("Look out kids, it's raining!") and they all just squealed and laughed. Then she poured mild dish soap in the tub and made bubbles. This just blew their minds. DS was so into it he barely noticed when I left! And that is a big thing because he is just starting separation anxiety. It was so simple, but they were so happy (soaking wet, as was I when I left to go back to work, but happy!).
I really love my daycare. Thanks for letting me share.
Re: A good daycare story
I love our daycare too! During the summer they have weekly themes for the kids with lots of fun events. This week it's all about 'Around the World' and they're learning about other cultures by making crafts and eating new foods. Next week it's Tropical week so there is a luau!
I could never plan these types of events and activities for DD and she loves it! Sometimes to the point where on Saturday she'll ask 'I go to school today?'.
