OK fondant users I have a question.

I am considering trying out fondant and learning how to use it, but explain this to me.  I've read the directions and I see that you roll it out and then drape it over the cake and smooth it out, but for a flat piece of icing to go over a round cake, it seems like there would be folds and gathers - how do you smooth those out?  Am I missing a step?

  • Where there's a crease if you lift it up and kind of let it stretch it should smooth flat. ..and if there's a crease cover it up with your design! lol

    What she said...

It's actually pretty easy... if you can, try a small practice cake to get the hang of it... here were my trial and then final product!  (First-time fondant user... I bought Satin Ice for the white, and made marshmallow fondant for the chocolate... it was awesome.)

  • I haven't used fondant yet, but I've watched several videos on you-tube.  Just search fondant and you'll get a million videos to watch.
