My doc just called to follow up with me to confirm that I did mc. She said that she would not medically recommend a D&C because I passed such a large piece of tissue on Monday that it probably contained most of the pregnancy. I am still having occassional cramps and passing marble sized clots every now and then. Would the D&C help move this along, or should I wait and see??? She said this could continue for weeks. I cannot do this for weeks! My next appt. to follow up will be in about two weeks. Any advice?

Re: to D&C or not to D&C????
My opinion, I would say no to a d&c. You've already started bleeding and passing things, so the hard part's already started. Yes, it could take weeks to finish, but chances are it wouldn't. My first m/c at 9wks, I bled for a little over a week, but passed all the clots and tissue within three days. My most recent m/c, I was 5wks and bled for about 5 days but passed most everything in one morning. So really, how long and how much will depend on how far along you were.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I have to agree with others, at this point, I'd probably just let it happen on its own. I hope it goes quick for you.

I was scheduled for a d/e this morning. Yesterday afternoon I started to m/c on my own. I made several calls to my ob and got different responses from various nurses. I asked,"what do I do, should I let this happen or get my d/e!?"
I like what one nurse said... you can let this happen naturally. In the morning we'll squeeze you in for an quick u/s to make sure you passed most of the tissue and confirm the m/c was successful.
So this morning I told the surgeon I started to m/c already and they did an u/s to see if the tissue was mostly out. It wasn't so they went forward with the d/e.Maybe you can call your ob and they can do an u/s for you. It might help you move forward with a decision.
PS I am so sorry, god bless.
Decided to let this happen naturally, and so far I am 'ok'. The bleeding is very light right now, and no cramping at all today. DH and I are feeling very optimistic and are ready to begin TTC as soon as I get my first AF.
