Adoption

So, I won't get too excited...

...but we got an e-mail yesterday about a potential match. 6 yo boy, had TPR hearing last week.  Not sure yet about the results of the TPR hearing, but our CW will find out if we are interested.

Yikes! It is hard not to get excited when he really sounds like a great match and they have a ton of information about him!

  • Best wishes that this works out for you. Good luck!!! Please KUP!!!!
  • Wow!! That was fast. Congrats! Hope you get news soon about the TPR hearing. Find out too if the parents will be appealing. In York County, parents get 2 appeals. Each appeal takes 6 months - 2 years. That was something we were not expecting when we matched. Hope it all works out!! Can't wait to hear!
  • Yay! I hope this works out for you!

I know it is fast, that is why I am trying not to get too excited. He is in York County. I will ask about any pending appeals or if they have already been exhausted. He's been in foster care 2 years already, a year at his current placement, so hopefully something has happened in those 2 years to move him toward some sort of permanent placement.

  • Wow.  It does sound exciting, and I wish you the best of luck!
  • The county told me that no one has ever won an appeal. The good news is that even if the parents do appeal, he would be in your care the whole time. The county can also start the adoption process concurrent with the appeals, so it all gets done about the same time. Hope there's no appeal and you get to meet the little man soon!
