having the dilima of is the price for the travel system and later a toddler seat worth the so-called convence? I like the idea of only buying one for $55.00 at walmart for use up to 100 lbs. and getting a wrap/sling and umbrella troller but what about having to hook/unhook the baby in when it's raining, snowing, really cold or really hot. What are your thoghts since you've been at this for a while now? Thank you!
Re: travel system vs convertable car seat
I love having a travel system - we use Baby Trend seat with the Snap N Go. It's so great to use when I take her out. Even with daycare just bringing her inside with the carrier (since I'm also carrying her bottle bag, etc.)
Also, depending on your baby's weight, you may need the infant seat. When DD came home at 6 lbs, it was stressful enough getting her in that seat in the car let alone a convertible and having to do the extra ins/outs.
I love our travel system - Chicco Cortina. When DD falls asleep in the car we can take her out, pop into the stroller and do what we need to do without waking her.
I wouldn't carry her around all over in it but that is what the stroller is for... Plus when you go to resteraunts a lot of them now have stands for the infant carriers so you don't have to bring the stroller in or put them on a chair -or worse try and hold them and eat at the same time...
You don't really need a convertible seat until they are nearly a year old anyway so if it's an expense you can put off the better.
