You shouldn't be spilling any protein. There is no "normal" number. But in pregnancy, it is common to occasionally spill a little due to the physiologic changes that go on. We put our kidneys into overdrive and a little spillage sometimes just happens.
Not necessarily - iluvmyfireman has held her protein at the same level throughout her bed rest... so I am holding out hope that it is possible!!!
True!! At 31 weeks mine was 403. My negative urine in the dr office 2x weekly along with my stable bp's leads my dr. to believe it is not climbing (yet) I have been on pretty strict bedrest since then and I am due to be induced at 38.6. I also hold out hope for the rest of you with pre-e that you can continue on with long pregnancies before/without the protein levels climbing too much!
you may not hop up over the 300 marker. check out preeclampsia.org for great info. some people had declining numbers late in their pg. ??? go figure. ???
My dipsticks were "fine" (which could mean anything from none to 1+ depending on the practitioner, stupid me did not ask)... then I did a 24hr and it was 1050, 2d later 1350, no repeat, got 4+ on the dipstick at the next visit and induction was started the next day ... symptoms started to tack on mid pregnancy with palpitations heart arrhythmia and labile pressures, pree suspected at 32wks with large wt gain swelling extremities going numb due to the swelling b/p staying high n/v returning headaches pain in the RUQ... eventually seeing stars, progressively increasing b/p and hyper reflexes and that pree anxiety feeling or as my ob put it the crazy feeling or talking crazy, induction 36w 5d, delivered 37wk exactly.

Ditto, my first 24 hour urine in the hospital was over 1000, 2 days later it was just above 300

300mg or 0.3g is the cutoff for mild pre-e
5000mg or 5g is the cutoff for severe pre-e
thanks girls.
I already have the high BP - thats why they ran the 24 hour urine. Guess they will continue to watch it.
