Instead of freezing meals...

WDYT of buying giftcards ahead of time to use later?

We have a tiny freezer that is usually full already with TV dinners, burritos, and frozen pizzas now that I'm on bedrest and can't really cook.

Probably not as economical, I know. I'll probably try to squeeze a few frozen meals in there before I deliver, or keep some at a relatives house and have them bring them over later??

    I was going to just buy frozen pizza's and frozen dinners like that. I don't really think the freezing meals is more economical if you end up not eating them. Cause with my luck I would do something wrong and they would be gross by the time we went to eat them.

    i've started stocking up on giftcards using my Chase Reward points- i've got about 5 or so socked away right now for night that's i just don't feel like doing anything. i'll just give them to the husband & have him pick something up on the way home!

    Just a thought--maybe check with a grocery store close by or a local deli and find out their specials.  Our local one has rotisserie chickens on sale every Monday and half priced ribs every Thursday.  If you find out about specials like that, you could have ready cooked meals that cost a lot less than some restaurants.  During this pg, if I'm having a bad day (modified bedrest) then I get DH to stop by there and pick up a rotisserie chicken and a Caesar salad in a bag kit and we have supper fixed in 5 minutes and only spent $10 on it.  Plus there's plenty of chicken to eat for leftovers the next night.

    We have a deep freeze we purchased when my first baby was born to store all the breast milk, so we have quite a bit of room...I want to make the meals myself because I am going to try to stay away from extra calories and sodium...the pre-frozen meals from the store are loaded with extra crap...but I will probably buy a couple things.
