2nd Trimester

Anyone have any suggestions...

I've been trying to seek out gender neutral clothing so that LO has something to wear once we arrive home. I haven't found this the easiest thing to do in the world. With all the clothes 'grouped' in colors for either a boy/girl I'm finding it very hard. Anyone have any suggestions or should I just give up & find out the gender at my 3dscan booked in 2 weeks!

Re: Anyone have any suggestions...

  • We are Team Green and I have found lots of gender neutral clothing at Macy's and other places.  Are you talking about the coming home outfit, or just clothes for those first few weeks in general?

In terms of the coming home outfit, we are buying a boy outfit and a girl outfit, and either returning, regifting, or donating the one we don't use.

  • Do you have a Baby Gap nearby? I was in ours recently and they had a lot of "oatmeal" colored clothing (I think it may have been organic) and it was definitely gender neutral. They also had a lot of plain white.

Or, how about buying one boy and one girl outfit....that way you can save yourself the stress of finding something gender neutral.

  • You could just get a cute outfit of each gender and take them both with you.  Keep the receipts and take the unused ones back! If you don't want to find out what your having until you give birth, don't give up on that wish just because of a silly thing like clothes!

    Good luck!

  • Childrens Place usually has cute gender neutral sleepers (in khaki, mulit color, green, yellow, what have you) that I loved when DS was little- they zipped up, and were really easy to get a wriggly newborn in and out of. I think all but one of his we're able to use again for this LO. If you want to be surprised, don't let a little thing like clothing get in the way of it!
  • These are all great suggestions so far thanks! For those that asked, I was talking about buying clothes in general...not the coming home outfit. I've left my mother in charge of that job. (She really wants the job of picking the coming home outfit)

  • I personally wouldn't buy too much gender neutral stuff. Just enough to get you through until you feel up to shopping. Most gender neutral stuff is way more boring than cute boy/girl clothes!
  • I agree with PP don't buy too much.  I'm sure as soon as your friends and family find out the gender they'll be out shopping then at your doorstep with plenty of nice clothes.

  • We had a lot of gender neutral stuff for DS and I'm glad now that I can use so much of it with DD.  Of course DS had tons of boyish clothes too.

They have gender neutral stuff EVERYWHERE!  White, yellow, green, and similar colors are all around.  Target has a ton of that Classic Pooh stuff for newborns and some of it is gender neutral.  Also check BRU and the Carters store.

  • I would go with one of the hip urban brands like Ollibollen.  Their stuff is very gender neutral and bold.  Good luck!
