Starting cereal and poop question

So Trig has always had bad bad problems with reflux. He's on pepcid and he spits up. A ton. Anyway, things have gotten worse as he has started to eat more and I finally called the pedi on Friday. She suggested thickening his BM (I pump) with rice cereal. Cool. She had held off on starting cereal because he's a preemie and she wanted to wait until he's 4 months adjusted (6 months actual) but she thinks it's more important to thicken. Cool.

At first, he wouldn't eat it. Then I realized he needs a different nipple (even though pedi said he wouldn't). I got the nipples for thicker consistencies and O.M.G. He ate 6 ounces. That is a world record for him - I know, not that much, but for him, it's astounding. I think it is working and I am SO EXCITED. Plus, (knocking on wood) no spit up yet. Wow. But he is sleeping and it could be coming later.

Just wondering if starting cereal will cause a change in his poop - frequency, consistency, etc. I just started CDing and haven't had a poopy CD yet (just so happened he was in a sposie last time he pooped). I am trying to prepare myself haha. Thanks! Sorry this is so long!

    yeah starting solids changed DS's consistency on BM, but it took a few weeks I think.  Now, they are chunkier and smell wor se.

    yeah the Y nipple works well for thicker liquids.  we don't use it because our pedi only lets us spoon feed him solids.

    We haven't started solids yet, but I just wanted to say that's awesome that Trig took 6oz!  That would be amazing if the rice cereal really makes a difference!  :)

    That's awesome & I've heard it helps keep the milk down so he should hopefully spit up less. My friend had to do that with her DS who had really bad reflux.

     As for the poop...I think as  BF mom's were spoiled. Yep it gets thicker & smellier. LOL.
