G is still in her preemie diapers. Last Monday, she was 5 lbs 8 oz and the preemie diaper goes up to 6 lbs. I assume by today she is nearly 6 lbs, or just under since she's been gaining between 3/4 oz and 1 oz per day. Today, she was laying on her side without her Pavlik Harness on (for hip dysplasia) and she peed through her diaper twice. She's never done this before, and this is the first time she was out of the harness for a significant period of time (I was washing it).
I am wondering, does this mean it's time to graduate to the newborn size? She's almost at the weight limit for the preemie diaper, and the newborn seems to fit her ok.
We are using pampers swaddlers, if that makes a differnce at all.
Thanks!!
Re: Does peeing through the diaper mean DD needs a larger diaper?
We switched diaper sizes usually at the start of the next size up -- or within a pound or two of that. I try to avoid the blowouts and leaks.
It definitely sounds like your LO is ready for the next size Swaddlers. My name is Trish and I work for Pampers. Babies can outgrow the absorbency of the diaper before they outgrow the fit. A nice feature about Swaddlers is the overlapping fasteners. My first DD was a preemie and she was such a heavy wetter that I moved her up to Newborn right away. But with the fasteners on the Swaddlers, I was able to get a nice, snug fit for her. I hope this helps. TX. Trish.
