Miscarriage/Pregnancy Loss

chemical pg?

Hi - So I went to the doctor today because of bleeding at the wrong time of the cycle and he gave me a pg test.  It was positive - but he said it was most likely a chemical pregnancy.  Can someone please fill me in on what is going on?  I take another pg test tomorrow to see if it is positive or negative.....  I just feel really confused.

Re: chemical pg?

  • This same thing just happned to me this week (I got the news of CP on Monday). A chemical pregnancy is basically when the egg is fertilized but never implants into the uterine wall...so you could call it a very, very early miscarriage, I suppose. That's how I consider it to be.

My story is very simiar to yours, I had a very light period (not the norm for me), but still had cramping/bloating a few days after the bleeding stopped, so I figured I would take a HPT just to clear my mind, fully expecting it to be negative. Well, it was positive! So I went to the dr and they drew hcg levels. First one was 62 (hence the BFP), and two days later it was only 13. I actually took another HPT the day I had my 2nd hcg drawn since I wouldn't get results for another day or so, and the HPT was negative.

    Best of luck to you!

  • Same thing happened to me.  It's kind of like a cruel joke you think you're pregnant and you are for a short time but nothing implants in the uterus and therefore nothing grows.  Sorry for your loss..
