We just hand wash our bottles b/c we don't run the dishwasher every day, but it seems like the nipples smell soapy after we wash them. Do you just wash your nipples with the rest of the bottle parts, or do you boil them or what?
I have a removable nipple brush from a bottle brush I got at Target...I squirt some antibacterial dishwasher soap in the inside of the nipple and around the house side and wash with teh brush...rinse and then I steralize them all in a Medela steralization bag. I HATE HATE HATE when the nipples are cloudy b/c they make me think they are dirty, and this is the best and quickest method I could find to make sure they looked clean enough to me for my daughters to eat off of.
Last time I washed them with soap and then did the medela sterilization bag they turned out all white and cloudy, so that's why I was asking. After that I washed them again and boiled them for 3 min, but the white stuff didn't come off, so I threw them all away.
I first let all my nipples soak in hot soapy water for a few minutes. Then I give them a good brushing (also w/ the nipple brush) and set them on the drying rack (after I have tried to shake off all the water). Sometimes when my husband tries to help out he doesn't scrub as good and tends to just lay them on a paper towell to dry (with the base of the nipple flat on the towell - so not letting any air in). I'm starting to think that he might not get all the soap off and b/c of the wait he lets them dry is what is causing the cloudiness in color. BUT - I typically just try to re-wash these and find that they return back to normal.
I just use hot soapy water and a bottle brush meant for nipples then we have a drying rack. The silicon does naturally get cloudy over time, especially with light exposure.

What can I say, I'm particular.
How well are you letting them dry?
