Scared to death of vacuum cleaner

I know that DD is afraid of it. So when I use it she in another room. well the other night I brought it out & went to vacuum w/ her in the kitchen w/ DH. She got so upset & scared. She threw her arms up in the air started crying & screaming & running around the room in circles. It was the sadest thing we had ever seen. It's so weird because she loved it when she was a newborn. Now she's afraid of it.

Anyone else's LO afraid of it?

Re: Scared to death of vacuum cleaner

  • I had to buy a new regular vacuum b/c the one that attaches to our central vac system is super loud & scares the crap out of DS. So much for that investment:(

  • If DD even sees it out, she gets very upset. It is so weird. Next time she has a temper tantrum, I'm wheeling in the vacuum!!!

  • lol, yeah, DS is terrified of that and the dust buster. However, all I have to do is set the dust buster in front of the TV so he won't touch it (LCD) and if he ignores it, I just flip it on for a second to remind him thats its still a no-no
  • she shakes like a madwoman at the sound of a vacuum or a hair dryer. i try to show her it is okay but the next day she is shaking like a leaf again. i feel so bad but it is so cute that she is that afraid. she had bad colic as a newborn and we put the vacuum on all the time- weird!

  • I'm way late here but I posted the same thing a week or so ago. DS has just suddenly started crying/screaming when he sees the vacuum. It's truly pitiful. He never use to mind it. His pedi said at his age loud sounds can start to bother them but to just act normal,  like its no big deal and they should grow out of it. We'll see. GL.
