So we're meeting tons of different people (well, not tons, but you know what I mean...!) in Orlando now, and without exception every single one of them, when I tell them my daughter's name is Hannah CLAIRE, insists on referring to her as Hannah.
I'm going to go insane, just from this one thing. Guess we set ourselves up for it, though, didn't we? ![]()
Problem is, it IS the name we gave her, legally and everything, and that's what I want her to be called. Her new daycare "teachers" even called her Hannah today when we visited, and I hate to be rude to them, but I have GOT to get people to say her name right!
So, what's a polite but firm way to tell folks that my kid's name is, in fact, Hannah Claire, and that's what she's called by her parents and grandparents and aunts and uncles and everyone else, and that's that?
In other news: I posted on the 12-24 board about said child turning into the child from Hell lately. Ugh. Not worth repeating verbatim but she's into the pinching, kicking, dropping food stage. HATE IT.
Re: Who else has a DC with a double first name, and how do you address this?
I think it's fine to just say, 'Actually, she has a double name, Hannah Claire" when someone just calls her Hannah. Especially with Daycare people or people you're going to be around a lot.
I would just correct them and say, "actually, we use both names and call her Hannah Claire".
I have had to tell quite a few people that my daughter is not "Katie", it's "Kate".
It's just an entirely different name to me. Her real name is Sara Katherine though and her daycare teacher calls her that sometime, but NO ONE else on earth does. hahaha. I let that one go...
