    Thanks for posting that. Really interesting. I liked this quote:

    Other characteristics that lend to successful open adoptions are positive thinking, viewing our children as individuals and not possessions, being open to new relationships, feeling entitled to parent, respect and empathy for the child's birth/adoptive parent.

    Thank you for posting the article.  I've been talking with a friend of mine about how openness in adoption has changed over the last 50 years or so.  He was adopted as an infant and his parents didn't really talk about his birth parents at all.  It's interesting to hear his "take" on the whole thing.
