Another Dr. Appt

So, I told you guys I had tested positive for that blood clotting disorder like a month ago... Well, I finally had my appt today w/ the folks at Duke Perinatal. They took some blood so they can re-test for specifically that and see if *maybe, just maybe* further testing will come out negative. If, god hates me as usual, and the test comes back positive again, then once I do get pregnant I have to give my self a shot every 12 hours in the stomach for the entire pregnancy. *sigh*

Seriously. I don't even know what to think about all this crap.

In other news, I have my hyteroscopy next week and our new insurance kicks in next month & doesn't cover anything for infertility.

All in all, just awesome. No really, awesome. Grrrr

OH! And last night I was on the phone w/ my brother (who is known to be an ***) and he made the "well, you don't have kids, so you wouldn't understand" comment. I was like, Yeah, thanks Chris, you're a ***.

Re: Another Dr. Appt

  • Sorry what your brother said :(

When will you get the results from the blood test today?

  • Loading the player...
  • IDK when I'll get the results...I probably won't know about them until my Aug. 5th appt. w/ the RE to go over the hysteroscopy and whatnot.
  • Oh dear! That sounds awful - about the gut shot every 12 hours... that'd be a huge commitment. But hey, you do what you gotta do, I guess.

I hope you get GOOD results and don't have to do the gut shot.

  • Here's hoping for good results!  ::hugs::  I'm sorry you're having to go through all of this.

  • Sorry you haven't have great news lately.  On a slightly positive note, my cousin's wife has a clotting disorder and had to give herself shots during her pregnancy.  I know it was a pain, but they now have a happy, healthy little boy :)
  • My brother has a blood clotting disorder (Paget-Schroetter Disorder) and he has to give himself shots a lot because he has it pretty severe.  Hang in there.  I know his shots are a godsend for him....I know its a pain to do, but hopefully it wont come to that for you.

  • I am sorry... I didn't realize you were on the time crunch d/t the insurance changes too...

Don't fret about the lovenox shots... the needle (although still a needle) is teeny tiny, it is the same as an insulin needle so it doesn't hurt too badly... it will be worth it when the time comes (when, not IF!!!!)

    thinking of you!

  • Sorry your brother sucks. Sorry about the blood test. Like 802 said, if it's Lovenox shots every 12 hours, the needle is tiny and shots in the belly like that aren't bad at all. I've never heard patients complain about them. GL!

  • I'm so sorry you're going through this!! With IF, it always feels like it's just one thing after the other doesn't it? Sucks!! I hope everything works out. Keep us updated! and I'm sorry about the brother comment. Some people just don't understand how much the things they say sting!

  • geesh, I'm sorry you are having a rough time.  I hope the blood results come back good.  That stinks about your brother and your insurance.  I hope your luck picks up soon.  I wouldn't worry too much about the lovenox shots.  I'm a pharmacist and dispense it all the time.  Most patients are freaked out at first but get the hang of it pretty quickly.
