=( baby dies in head on crash while on mothers lap

Lynden WA, an SUV crashed head on into a semi. Driver of the SUV ran (he had been drinking) the mother had been holding the baby in the passenger seat and the 3 month old baby was thrown and killed on impact. Sad part was that there was a carseat in the back that would have saved his life.  The driver has not been found.

    Was the mother killed as well?

    I'm actually torn on whether I think she should receive penal punishment if not... As awful as it is to lose a child, that is an individual life separate of just "her son" that was lost due to her negligence.  Sadly, that's the only thing a judge will consider, not the heartbreak and lifelong trauma she will always suffer as a result.

    I heard about this on the news today.  What a sad story! 

    On a lighter note...someone else from Bellingham!!  Are you planning on delivering at St. Joes?  I work in L&D here as a Surgical Tech doing C/S, so if you have any questions about this place I'd be happy to answer them!

    im not really sure if the mom died.... They didnt really say. I think that everyone is just in such shock of the whole situation that alot of details of the story are being overlooked

    That's a damnn big detail for any journalist to overlook!!

    Speaking of journalists, whoever posted the "On a lighter note" reply, that cracked me up.  lol Only newscasters and doctors are so able to float from awful news to light banter. Stick out tongue

    Um, please post stuff like this somewhere else, perhaps, where women already have babies..... just NOT here, where we are still anxiously awaiting the arrival of our babies.

    And why on earth was the child in the mother's lap to begin with??????!!!?
