I am trying to decide if I want to get an arms reach co-sleeper for the babies or just a regular pack n play for when they first come home. I would like them to sleep together for as long as they can (maybe 3 mos). Waht did you use and why? Thanks
I have no experience w/the PNP, but we used the Arm's Reach co-sleeper & loved it! They slept together in it until they were 5m old & exceeded the maximum weight limit. Then we set it up in our living room as a PNP & used it as a safe "holding area" once they became mobile.
I am planning on using the arms reach mini co-sleepers for each side of the bed. I liked how they are level with our bed (in case of c-section ,won't have to reach down and bend) and they are supposedly small enough to fit in tiny bedrooms (I have to factor that in due to NYC apt.)
i LOVE our arms reach cosleepers. We have 2 of the minis- if you got the bigger one you could put both babies in for those first few months.
its great b/c you dont' ahve to get out of bed to put a paci back in, pat baby's belly, etc.... We had a regular bassinet for DS1 and sold it and got a bedside cosleeper - oh, what a difference!
If you want to use it for 3 months, I'd go with the cosleeper because of the much higher weight limit. I know baby sizes vary, but the PnP bassinet only goes up to 15 lbs, and I'd think your babies would most likely weigh more than 7.5 lbs each by 3 months. (Mine weighed just over 15 lbs each at 3 months!!)
We did, however, end up moving them to their crib in the nursery by the second week. They made a lot of noise at night--between crying, fussing, and grunting--so DH and I really couldn't sleep in the same room as them. We ended up sleeping in shifts. (The on-duty parent would try to catch a little sleep in the recliner or in a bed in the babies' room.) We did still use the cosleeper downstairs as a place to set the babies, or for one baby to nap if we needed to separate them, etc. We ended up selling our cosleeper on craigslist for $95 (like-new condition) and buying a $70 Pack n Play, so it worked out.
